Courtney Thorne-Smith Engaged

Ex-Ally McBeal darling Courtney Thorne-Smith is ready to leave the racy world of nighttime soaps and settle down. The 31-year-old actress is engaged to her boyfriend of three years, genetic scientist Dr. Andrew Conrad, according to the June 5 issue of People magazine.

Thorne-Smith, who played stoic but sexy Georgia on Ally up until her departure at the end of this season, is planning an October wedding to be held in Los Angeles.

But how does Thorne-Smith's ex-boyfriend Andrew Shue who was her former Melrose Place mate, both on- and off-screen feel about the news? In a 1995 interview with People, the actress was asked if she and Shue would remain close friends despite their breakup. Thorne-Smith revealed, "Ask me when one of us gets married. That'll be hard." So far, we haven't heard any hearts breaking.

The wholesome blonde has a busy post-Ally year ahead of her. Aside from the wedding bells, she's being courted for her own sitcom series for next fall. She's also reviewing scripts from several networks, according to Variety, and has signed on as a cosmetics spokeswoman for Almay.
