News values revisited There are a standard news items in any news room, in which are the foundation of all stories that become news copy. The news values, the wire services, and meeting the crowd should keep you on top.
The news values are the standard foundation of all news. I call the standarrd news values, the eleven commandments of news. Animal stories, conflict, consequence, disaster, human interest, novelty, progress, prominence, proximity, and sex stories are all news values. The wire services like :"The Associated Press, United Press International, and Reuters offer international and reginal information to put stories together. The great thing about these services are , and what prompted me to mention this, is that they hire a great magnitude news journalists and place them in our region and around the world. Some wire services have stories coming in twice a day for news papers . For the television bradcasts, some wire services feed news several times a day with updated information for the hard news, or breaking stories. I believe some wire services call them news flashes. Although the wire services charge a fee, it's well worth the premiums. "Don't rely on just one!" "He he he." Meeting the crowd will always keep you on top. I was taught in an oral communications course that if you ask an open end question to any one about his, or her selves, either one, or the many will come up with such great facework. Facework is what the people want you to know about them, and how they want to be represented.There is also the ambiance of pictures videos, and sound bites. Never mind the journalese cliche,"clothes make the man." Clothes don't really make the man it's what he, or she has in their heart.
Therefore, there are a standard of news values in any news room in which are the foundation of all news stories that become news copy. There are the news values, the wire services, and meeting the people and let them create their facework.

I would love to have Katie visit Mankato, MN. I have lived here 5 years and can't believe how different the standard of living is just a few blocks from my home. Someone needs to expose how some Americans are forced to live. I understand that she will be in the Twin Cities next week but I really think visiting Mankato would represent a realistic hometown view of some important issues that need to be addressed. This is middle America, not a big city, just an ordinary town with ordinary people. I would like to also expose how many hard working average Americans can't afford health care coverage or perscription medicine and what effects this has had on our older generation (your vast majority of news veiwers). We are the most powerful country in the world and can't manage to help our own citizens who need help. I am just a 41 year old mother of 5 children who has been fortunate enough to have a nice home and good healthcare, but it's very hard to turn my back on those who are less fortunate. Katie can make a difference. She has helped to make so many positive changes in our country. My true thoughts and hopes are that she will get involved in politics and help to change the course our country is taking. She would have my vote and I'm sure America's vote.

I live in Denver. I think Katie needs to check out the Air Traffic Controller Situation. Not just oin Denver but Nation wide. Our country could have some big problems in the not so distant future. Please keep me annonomous for fear of my husband losing his job and retirement. Thank You .
