No News is good news.
An old saying to start me off this year.

A lot of water has passed under the bridge, a very turbulent year for us all. The economy has been hit by an earthquake, at least a 10 on the Richter scale. We have 3 banks nationalised, employment is badly affected, the knock on effect on people losing their homes. Its too depressing to carry on any further with this bad news.

Although if the government took a leaf out of our book they might learn a lesson worth learning. What I mean is simply this. We are on the go 13 years now, as long as this shower are running the country. The Celtic Tiger era. A lot of lolly flowed in to the government coffers. Now heres the rub. Did they invest wisely? Could they have forseen a rainy day? We started out with nothing. We spent our own money to finance the week in Mayo, year in year out. No all expenses paid for us. Our finance spokesman Sean told us last year where all of our money went. The local economy benefited over the last 12 years. We even put a prize for the winner of the weeks competition. Did it just end there? No it didnt. We had a daily winner and for good measure a weekend winner, plus the par 3 winner. In fact everybody got a prize. What did this shower do with billions! Misspent the lot. We are drip fed bad news while they cling on to power. The shinners (Sinn Fin) got it right, our day will come. Heres to us, we pay our way and everybody gets looked after. All our money is accounted for and well spent. Our committee to run the country What say you all? They are the people for the people. The government take note. The gravy train days are at an end.

Even in recessionary times we are about to take our first overseas trip. Its only as far as Cornwall. Cutting our cloth to measure. I am really looking forward to it. Last years winner is living there and could almost be called as a local. Actually he is only a blow in, originally from Nordin Iron. His name is a dead give away. John Jameson. How are you keeping, going for 2 in a row? I hope your handicap matches your prowess and is down to a more respectful level. Or maybe you are thinking of spreading the prize around. As for all of us over here we have been hard at it. Chris even had a few lessons, Dermot is still a force, Tom Walshe is another who has taken lessons and is keeping it altogether. Jonny Mc is going to stay the week not likely to come off the rails. Watch this space. As for me, I had to go back to reading. I am having trouble with my irons and putter but I will give it a lash.

I have no news from Manchester or London other than they will miss Mayo. Hello to you all. Tony, Chris, Terry, Lee and Young Mr. David. Its about time he joined us again. Not forgetting Sean, Mike M, Mike S, Chris S and Mort.

See you all soon

P.S. Ross, I have my eye on you. Your win is noted. Watch your back!
