News Headlines: Chris Moran makes an unconventional move to lose his bandit status...

Good Morning to you all. Here is the news on Wednesday the 18th of June 2008.

Ireland says no to Lisbon. A smug Taoiseach Brian Cowen when asked to explain what happened said I told them to vote yes, but they didn't listen to me! Maybe they said no because I didn't bother to tell them what it was all about. Brian. A right mug.

The cost of fuel continues to rise. Truckers in England & Fishermen in Ireland go on strike. President Bush may become a catholic just like his brother Jeb, and Tony Blair, what is going on here? Is he trying to blame us on the worlds woes? A Blair in the hand is worth two in the Bush!

Now the sports news. Manchester United are crowned kings of Europe and The Premiership. I told you so but you would not listen. On to golf next. Tiger hops to his 14th Major. No stopping the man! Might I suggest a nail and a hammer be taken to his other foot. On second thoughts, maybe its not a good idea, the last time we did that to someone it caused mighty divisions in the world.

Next the local golf scene. The courage Virility Golf Society are mustering all over the British Isles. Who is going to take top prize? El Presidente looks to be a shoe in, although he said to me he was tired of winning. MY ARSE! I know for a fact he was away in America and Spain building himself up for the tough week ahead. Another past winner, Chris Moran (Dublin), went to extradordinary lengths to improve his chances. Again rumour has it that Nico's had a fire in the kitchen and had to close for a major makeover which closed the establishment for a month and where did Chris head for? Ballinrobe. He didn't hang around to answer awkward questions. You don't know the half of it. Next not only did he play Ballinrobe he went the whole hog and played a handful of other local courses, and there's more! A new set of Ping Irons and full fit and sizing, or was that circumcision? Ah you know me I'm a bit deaf. Anyway, he is now properly tooled up.

Now for the weeks competition and any other eventualities. On we go, speaking about stallions, it has been confirmed that Joe Garafalo is down to play for this weekend. My spy says that he has not been playing much golf since his big win. Any bets on him being able to pull off another win? How about the London irregulars chances? The news is sparse but I am sure Mort would like to repeat his fine win last year. Sean and Mike Seal would like to figure at the top. Now that depends on how good the reinforcements he is bringing over are. They are the 1st Cornwall Heavy Farm Machinery Division. Do they sow as they reap or do they just dig it deep? I am looking forward to meeting them. Now what can we expect from the Manchester "Light" Infantry and the Manchest Canal S.S.S? Let me explain the name... You might remember that I was nobbled by a lovely young chap offering me drink and then sank back into the shadows. It was only later that I learned he was a member of the infamous Manchester Canal Special Seal Service. A "rum" lot although he drank beer.

As for myself, I am still as competitive as ever. I had a bit of luck in my club this year, now playing off a respectable 14. I even made time to read which I found very helpful. Looking forward to meeting you all. I hope you will enjoy yourselves. Yours, (old) Young Young
