CVGS 10th Anniversary

Hello to you all on the eve of our 10th Anniversary. Does it really seem that long? I would really like to reflect for a short time, after all it is a milestone, all be it a small one.

From just a thought lost in time now to bring the event to life and to celebrate our 10th birthday trip down to Co. Mayo. When I think back to the start I knew then I was on to a good thing, just how good I didn't know. If for some reason it didn't happen again I certainly would mourne it's passing. Anyway, I am not dead yet and I am really looking forward to travelling to Ballinrobe for the weeks golf, food, sunshine, and the craic with all the lads.

I have to admit from the outset I sense an edge has come into the game more so than ever before. I know of at least three people who have purchased specialist clubs plus three of the Irish crew have had lessons, and best of all, one fellow has taken to cycling to work to up his fitness levels. A two time past winner, no names, no pack drill, but his initials are DB.

If anybody gets tired it's me, although I play twice most weekends and it leaves me worn out, even my battery charges up quicker than I do. How am I going to last the week I don't know. Maybe the people who nobbled me would like to cast the net a little further this year and try their luck with those bandits and leave the old bugger alone.

Finally, back to that I edge I said that has appeared. Recently DB, Yea Yea Moran, Philip from The Orchard Golf Society and the old git 'F it' Young won an open rumble in Kilcock Golf Club. Three past winners, two trying to make it three this year in Mayo. Can you stop them? Don't say you weren't warned!

One last fact on that edge that has appeared, when we first started only one or two of us had an offical GUI handicap. This Year, only one or two don't have one. That's progress! Real competition has arrived with everyone looking to be in the shake up come Friday.

Good Luck to you all. Do bring your best clubs, you will need them! I Hope you all enjoy the week, even the nobbler!
