Disclaimer: Unfortunatly, the characters of Pacey, Joey, Jen, Jack, Andie, Dawson, Henry, Bessie, and everyone else are not mine. They belong to Kevin Williamson. The character of Felicity is not mine, she blongs to someone else. Not really sure who. But I'm gonna borrow her.
Author's Note: With all the recent controversy over what will happen between Joey and Pacey, I decided to take matters into my own hands. This is a complete 'what if' factor here so...don't expect it to happen.
Spoiler: Only a spoiler if you haven't seen Season 3 up to the Cinderlla episode. This takes place a few days after that.
Rating: Not sure...yet. Might heat up...then again, might not.
Pacey walked along the streets with a new spring in his step. He was finally going to show Joey Potter what she was missing out on. He knew that she felt something for him. In that kiss, how could she not? That was the single best kiss of his life and she played it off like it meant nothing. But it meant something. It meant something to him and he knew that it meant something to her. Denying what was between them was a tragedy waiting to happen.
He still couldn't figure out what had caused her to pull out of it though. It was intense. He'd seen Dawson kiss Joey and he knew that he has never kissed her like that. There was some sort of spark between he and Joey that the two of them had never had. He didn't have it with Andie and he didn't have it with Tamara. Maybe it was the sexual tension between them. There was enough there to light every house in the state of Massachusetts, so why couldn't she see that?
Was she so caught up in the facade of Dawson Leery that she refused to let anyone else have a chance to make her happy? Did she truly love him that much that she was willing to sacrifice her happiness for him to finally come around and take her back? Why was she willing to waste her life for Dawson?
Dawson was his best friends and by no means did he mean to invade his territory by his kiss with Joey, he just couldn't stand it anymore. She was spouting off about how he knew her as well, if not better, than dear ole' Dawson. And yet, she strayed away from a romance with him. But, the green eyed monster would pay Capeside a little visit, in the form of Joey Potter.
He could tell by her encounter with Felicity earlier that she wasn't happy to see Pacey with another girl. Especially not a pretty one. But the thing that would really get Joey, would be when she found out that they were 'dating'. She wouldn't like the idea at all. Joey always feels threatened when ever a new girl moved in or came to town. But they always went for Dawson, never Pacey. But this time, he had the perfect someone.
A someone who would see him in the nude without actually doing anything. He didn't know why exactly, but that made him a little nervous. He'd always been very open about things like that, how it wouldn't bother him, but this was a little nerve racking. Jack did it. But Jack's done a lot of things that he would never do. For one, Jack would kiss Matt Damon if given the chance. Pacey wouldn't even think about it. But if he brought the subject up to Jack and he happened to say something to Dawson, then Dawson might let it slip to Joey...this was perfect. She wouldn't like the idea at all.
Pacey saw Jack standing at his locker talking with Jen when he approached. He smiled, "Jack, Jen good morning."
Jen giggled. "Morning Pacey. And what rodent did you claw this morning."
Pacey saw his golden oppertunity. "Her name is Felicity, and I didn't claw...much."
"Felicity?"
"Yes. Felicity. She's not a rodent either. She's...breath taking. Jack I believe if you saw her, she would turn you straight my friend."
"So she's that pretty huh?"
Jen eyed him skeptically as he talked with Jack. Something about this didn't seem right. Pacey was in love with Joey not one week ago and a new girl comes to town and he's forgotten all about her? It didn't fit.
"So are you dating this...Felicity?"
"Yes. Actually, she's drawing a portrait of me."
Jack looked at him, "I'm sorry."
"Why?"
"Do you know how long that will take?"
"Yeah. She said a couple of weeks."
"Well, you probably get to keep your clothes on."
"What fun would that be?"
Jack stopped with Jen as they started walking down the hall. "You mean, you're doing a nude portrait for her?"
"Yeah."
"Have you lost your mind?"
"What?"
"What do you know about this girl?" Jen inquired.
"I know that she is a pre-med. I know that she is going to NYU and that she likes drawing, and her ex-boyfriends names..."
"She told you about her ex's?"
"Well, I told her about mine."
"All of yours?"
"If you're refering to a teacher we know...yes."
Jack shook his head, "Your obsession with older women is getting out of hand."
"She's only a sophomore in college. She's not that much older than me."
Dawson happened to pick this time to join in the conversation. "Who's not that much older than you?"
"Felicity."
"The girl that was with you yesterday?"
"Yeah."
"Not bad, Pace."
"Thanks, D."
"Wait until you hear this, Dawson. She's going to draw Pacey naked."
"Really? I thought that Jack was the nude model around here."
"All of you can kiss my white..."
"Hey guys," Joey said as she walked up.
"Hey Joey."
"Hey Jo."
"Joey let me run something by you," Jen started. "What would you say if I told you that Pacey is posing nude for a portrait?"
"I would die laughing."
"What kind of casket would you like, white or black?"
Joey turned towards Pacey confused. "Who's the artist?"
"Her name's Felicity," Dawson said in a whimsical voice.
Realization hit Joey. It was the girl with him at the coffee shop two days ago. She knew they looked friendlier than they should have. And now, as she felt her blood boil, she felt Jen grab her arm and lead her off down the hall way.
"Jen what are you doing?"
"Saving you from being sent to prison."
"What?"
"If I know you, you were about to lay into Pacey. Am I right?"
"Yes. Why didn't you let me?"
"You have no right to say anything to him about anything he does with another girl. If you showed any sign of not liking the fact that he was letting her sketch him, in less than nothing, then you would once again confuse the poor boy. He already showed you that he has feelings for you beyond those of friendship and to act like a jealous girlfriend would further complicate him. Do you want that to happen?"
"No. I just don't want to see him with the wrong girl."
"And who would you consider the right one?"
Before Joey could answer the bell rang and she quickly dashed down the hall. She wanted to cry. But why? Pacey was free to date whomever he chose and if he wanted her, then he could have her. But why did it hurt so much? Why did she feel this sick gnawing in her stomach and the tug on her heart? She shouldn't feel this way. She was in love with Dawson. The more she said that to herself, the less she believed it.
When school ended, Joey walked out the front doors of school with Dawson on her tail. She wasn't in the mood to deal with him right now. She had more important things to do. She needed to get her thoughts straight in her head before she attempted to talk to Dawson.
"Joey! Wait up!"
He caught her and pulled her arms gently to make her slow down. He looked at her bewildered. She'd been acting strange ever since she came back from her weekend with that A.J. guy. Something must have happened that would cause her to act so strangely.
"What's your hurry?"
"I have to get to the B&B before Bessie cuts off my arm and hangs it out on the front porch."
"Why? Are you guys swamped?"
"That's an understatement."
"You want me to walk you home?"
"Actually, I'd rather walk alone. It's my one chance to think without all the distractions."
"Oh." Dawson looked saddened. "Well, there's a movie night this Friday night, so be there."
"I will. Who else is coming?"
"The whole Peach Pit Crew."
"You say that again and I'll kick your ass."
He laughed. He remembered the pillow fight they'd had when Pacey had referred to them as the next invasion of the Peach Pit. It was a time when his life made sense. He belonged with Joey, he wanted to be a director, and his home wasn't completely broken. It's amazing how much things change in a year.
As Joey started her walk, she saw Pacey get into a car. It definetly wasn't his. But then he saw the license plate and it read 'FPORTER'. It was Felicity. She felt her stomach drop out of her body. She felt a new type nausea that she'd never felt before. A bad type. She watched as Pacey leaned forward and kissed her softly. Her heart fell out after her stomach. She was going to puke and there was no way of holding it back.
"Joey!"
She turned around and saw Jen approaching her. "Hey," she said softly as she turned back to the car where Pacey and Felicity were.
"And what are we watching?"
Jen turned her attention to the car in front of them and saw the make-out session going on in the front seat. "I take it that's Felicity."
"Yeah."
"She's...pretty."
Joey shot her a death stare and turned back to see Felicity pulling out of the parking space. It hurt her to no end to see that Pacey had moved on so quickly. Why did she have to be an idiot and turn Pacey down? Because she thought that it was the right thing to do. But was it? If it was so right, then why did she feel like someone was stabbing her in the chest with a spoon?
"Joey, you going to be okay?"
"Who me? Oh yeah...fine."
"Walk with me."
"You're not going the same way I am."
"I am today. I'm going to your house."
"Why?"
"Because I think that since your resident shoulder now has a new head on it, you could use another one to cry on."
"Who? Pacey?"
"I'm not Dawson, therefore, I can see things that he doesn't."
Joey started walking with Jen right beside her. She stared at her feet as they walked along, silent for a few minutes.
"So what is it that you think you see Jen?"
"Jealousy."
"I'm not jealous."
"Tell that lie to someone who doesn't know you."
"I'm not. I'm a little hurt..."
"Why are you hurt?"
"Because..."
"Because? You and Dawson, believe it or not, are more alike than either of you think. He doesn't want you until you're taken and you don't want Pacey until he's moved on."
"That's not true. I do not want Pacey..."
"But you don't want him with Felicity."
"No, I don't."
"Why not?"
"Because she's older than he is. He's had one bad experience there, why would he want to duplicate it?"
"To you, Tamara seems like a bad experience, but to him...she was his first. His first real infatuation, his first real girlfriend, and his first time. To him, those are all experiences that have only made Pacey Witter a better man. They have made him who he is. And I don't think that anybody who knows Pacey would want him to change because, whether you want to hear this or not, she taught him how to care about a woman. And not just in the physical sense either." Jen took a breath and tried to regroup thoughts. "Do you think that the Pacey you knew before Tamara could have handled the Andie situation?"
"No," she answered softly.
"So whatever was between them, caused him to grow up to some extent."
"But we all know how his relationship with her turned out. She had to leave town because of him. That was pretty stupid."
"Granted. But he did save her reputation while destroying his own. That was a pretty grown up thing to do."
"I still don't trust this girl, Jen. Why would a beautiful girl like her, want Pacey? One that is much older and could probably have any guy she wanted?"
Jen shook her head. "Why, Joey? You tell me."
"I have no idea. That's why I'm asking you."
"I think you know more than you're letting on."
"And I think that you're full of it."
"Oh, please Joey. You have to admit that seeing Pacey sometimes gets you all hot and bothered. He did it to me and there was nothing between us."
"Nothing between you? Is that why you made your little casual sex pact?"
"You can't condemn something you've never had."
"Oh so now you're putting me down because I'm sexually inexperienced?"
"No..." Joey was beginning to frustrate Jen. "What I mean is...until you feel that unexplainable feeling of being so out of control while in a daze of pure lust and passion, you'll never understand how we could make that agreement. It's not something that you should take for granted. And we both agreed that sex was one of the best parts of being in a relationship. So we decided that any time there needed to be a...tension release, we were there to help each other out. It also kept me from feeling alone constantly. I knew that all I had to do was turn to Pacey and he...he would be there for me. Do you understand? It wasn't just about sex. It was about more than that. It was about...knowing someone was there for you when you needed them."
"So Dawson was right?"
"About what?"
"You two were just seeking comfort from one another."
"In a way, yeah." Jen continued to walk. "But, you sure did blow up at both of us. Especially Pacey."
"I was just confused as to how two very intelligent people could make an agreement that was so clearly illogical. I didn't understand, and I still don't. But I'll take your word on what it meant."
"Thank you." Jen said with a smile.
"You're welcome."
Jen looked at Joey then straight ahead of her. "So would you?"
"Would I what?"
"Ever make a sex agreement with Pacey?"
"No!"
"Really? You've never thought about what it would be like? Never wondered how he would measure up to Dawson?"
"No."
"You've never, not in your wildest of fantasies, dreamed of what it would be like to have Pacey pin you down and take you on some piece of furniture other than the bed? Or pin you against the wall and make you scream? You've never thought about sweaty bodies rubbing against one another, screaming his name into the air? You've never thought about that?"
"No. But I can see you have."
"At least I'm woman enough to admit it."
Joey stopped in her tracks and stood on the side walk, he mouth open. "And why do you say that I don't find Pacey...why did you say that?"
"I have never thought of Pacey like that!"
"Okay...wuss."
Joey started walking again, catching up with Jen. "Okay, so maybe once or twice."
Jen smiled. Joey wanted Pacey and she knew it. Getting her to admit it, though, was extremely hard. There was no way around it though. The second Pacey happened to brag a little to loudly, the school would know what he and Felicity were doing and he might loose Joey for good. She just hoped that whatever was between Joey and Pacey wouldn't get damaged by this thing he had with Felicity.
"So what piece of furniture did you have in your dream, Jen?"
"What?"
"In your dream about Pacey, what piece of furniture?"
"Book shelf and kitchen table."
"Bookshelf? Why the bookshelf?"
"Joey, Joey, Joey...you have to have something to hold on to besides him or you'll leave very visible marks."
"Oh."
"And what about you Joey? What furniture did you have in your sick little head?"
Joey turned a little red. She was blushing. This was a topic that Joey hadn't ever really discussed with anyone. It comforted Jen to know that Joey was confiding in her. It made her feel closer to her than Pacey, Dawson, Andie, or Jack. This was there secret.
"Ummm...the chair in my living room, and Dawson's bed."
"Dawson's bed, huh? Dawson wasn't in it too was he?"
"No. It was...it was just me and Pacey...and a bucket of cookie-dough ice cream."
Jen laughed. Joey followed her and she began to feel better. It's amazing how a little girl talk could help to ease the soul. But this Felicity thing brought her back down from her lighter mood.
"Jen, I have no idea what to do."
"About what Joey? If it's about acting out one of your fantasies...I don't think that Dawson will loan you his bed."
She smiled again. "I meant about the Pacey and Felicity thing. I mean, I don't know her and I already hate her."
"Why?"
"I don't know."
"Yes you do."
"No, trust me, I don't. I've been trying to figure this out all day. It wouldn't normally bother me, but...after that kiss...things changed in the way I saw Pacey. I don't know...I just can't explain it. It's strange, I saw him with her, and I instantly took a disliking to her. So much so that I was ready to gouge her eyes out with a very dull knife. That's horrible, isn't it?"
"It's natural to want to protect the man you love."
"Whoa! I never said I loved him!"
"You didn't have too. You just proved it."
"Huh?"
"Why did you take it so...psychotic when I suggested that you loved Pacey?"
"Because, there is no reasoning to base that statement on."
"No reasoning?"
"None!"
"Then why did you want to rip her eyes out? Why did you feel like laying into Pacey earlier? Why did you take it so bad when you thought that Pacey and I were having sex? Why are you standing here about to cry? Joey...I know that this hurts...but, imagine how he feels."
"What do you mean how he feels?"
"Think hard Joey. Why do you think that he has done everything for you lately? Why do you think he bought you a wall? Why do you think that he has sat and let you cry on his shoulder? Why do you think he helped out you and Bessie without you ever asking him? And why would he do it without ever getting a thank you?"
Joey looked away from Jen. She stopped in her tracks and covered her face with her hands. She just sobbed uncontrollably. She didn't know what had come over her. She started thinking about all the wonderful things that Pacey had done for her, and how she never told him thank you but one time...and she had to cry.
She felt horrible for the way she'd treated him. Jen came over her and consoled Joey. She hated seeing her friends go through this turmoil of love unexplored. And Pacey and Joey were two of her very best friends. And the whole time she'd been encouraging Pacey to make a move on Joey, she didn't actually think that Joey would turn him down cold and he would have his heart broken into a thousand pieces. And now, it seemed that Pacey was finally picking them up when Joey realized how her heart felt.
Pacey was in love with her. It had never occurred to her when she'd pulled away from their kiss, but as she thinks about it, the more he did for her, the more his love was showing in his eyes. Those blue eyes that were rife with passion and love, and she never noticed until it was too late. When she'd pulled away, she knew she'd done something stupid...but she didn't know how to erase it. How could she erase all the hurt she'd caused him. He'd told her than she didn't have to apologize, that it was okay, and that it didn't matter that she didn't want to be with him like that. And she had accepted that answer, without thinking twice about it. But she didn't realize how much she'd hurt him with her words.
"Jen, I'm an idiot, aren't I?"
"No."
Joey pulled out of Jen's embrace and looked down at her friend. Jen was one of the most understanding and forgiving people she'd ever met. After all the horrible things Joey ever said to her, Jen persisted in being her friend. And she turned out to be a damn good one. Jen would listen and wouldn't judge anyone. She just understood everything without the person having to explain themselves. She really needed understanding right now. More than she needed forgiveness or love, she needed understanding and compassion. And Jen, being the old wise soul that she was, gave it without Joey ever asking for it. And for that, Joey was thankful to have Jen in her life.
"You're right. I do love Pacey. But there are other things to consider here than just how I feel."
"And what's that?"
"Dawson."
"What about him?"
"He wouldn't be very happy if Pacey and I were to date."
"No he wouldn't." That was one thing that she hadn't thought of. The potential of Dawson not liking the fact that his best friend was with his girl. He wouldn't understand. He would be hurt and confused and extremely angry. More so at Pacey than at Joey. He would feel like Pacey had betrayed him and gone behind his back and stolen his girl.
"He wouldn't accept it."
"He truly would not."
"There's obstacle number one. And then there's Andie. She will feel like I betrayed her. Like I stole Pacey from her."
"Does Andie still have feelings for Pacey?"
"Yes. She would still be with him right now, if he wanted her back."
"But he doesn't. He wants you. And that's so clearly written in his eyes when he looks at you."
"And then there's the new girl. Felicity. What if it was one of those 'love at first sight' deals? And what if he's over me already? I just don't think I could take that kind of rejection. I mean, this could be the love of his life, his soul mate. I don't want to mess with that."
"Joey...calm down. One question at a time. Dawson...he would eventually come around. It would take some time for him to get used to it, but he would. Andie...she messed up her relationship with Pacey when she cheated on him. That was her fault, and I don't blame him for being angry. It does hurt and I think that Pacey loved her greatly. But every time he looks at her, he sees her betrayal. And I don't necessarily think that Andie would be angry and feel like you've betrayed her. I honestly think that Andie will see what you two feel for each other and accept it. It would be the right thing to do. And as for the new chick...I don't think that you have anything to worry about."
"And why do you say that?"
"I just don't really see her as a threat."
"You don't?"
"No. This girl...I don't care how pretty she is...there is no way she could steal away Pacey's heart. It can't just happen like that."
"Are you sure?"
"Positive."
They continued to walk until they reached Joey's house. They both walked in, neither noticing the car that was sitting in the driveway. They both stopped in their tracks as they saw Pacey and Felicity standing in the middle of her living room. The anger that she felt earlier once again seeped through out Joey's body. She wanted to slug Pacey for bringing her to her house. How could he do this? She started to doubt everything that Jen had said to her about Pacey's feelings for her. She was hurt. Her heart was hurting. The girl looked in Joey's direction with a look of...something that Joey couldn't quite describe. She still wanted to rip her head from her body and give it to a rabid dog. That would be the only thing at that point that would make her feel better. Nothing else would satisfy the heart ache that she was suffering through at the hands of a guy that Jen says, loves her. If he loved her, how could he bring Felicity here, to her home? To the place that Pacey had helped them build up from the bottom? Why was he being so insensitive?
Jen was in shock at Pacey's bold move of bringing his new girlfriend to the house of the girl that he says he loves. If he loved her as much as he said he did, he never would have done this. It was low. No matter how much Joey hurt Pacey, she didn't deserve this. She didn't deserve it at all. As much as Joey had put him through, she hadn't done it maliciously. Joey didn't realize that Pacey had feelings for her until he kissed her and now...Joey looked like she was going to break down into horrible sobs. She saw Joey's lip quivering and did something, anything, to get Joey's mind off the fact that the guy she was in love with was standing in her living room with another girl.
"Hi, Jen Lindly. I don't think we've met."
"Felicity Porter. I don't think we have either."
"So what brings you to Capeside?"
"I'm here with a friend. He's busy looking for some...film."
"Oh. Did you ever date this friend?"
"No. He's just...a friend."
"Are you dating Pacey?"
Felicity was a little taken aback by her forwardness. "Well, yes. I am dating Pacey."
"Where do you go to school?"
"NYU."
"And why are you dating a high school boy?"
Felicity's eyes narrowed. She saw what Jen was trying to do. She was trying to make her out to be the bad guy. It wasn't going to work.
"Pacey has a way with words, among other things," she said smiling up at him. Pacey saw the route where Felicity was going. And it was working wonderfully. Joey was ten seconds away from clawing her eyes out, and it was because of Felicity being a wonderful actress.
"That he does," Jen nodded. "So why are you here?"
"I need a room, and Pacey said you were the most affordable in town, and the place where I'm staying is a real dump. This place is beautiful though. Did you decorate it yourself?"
"My sister did. And I think were full."
"No we're not Joey. Hi, I'm Bessie, this is my home and business. One for a room?"
Joey grabbed her sister by the arm and dragged her into the kitchen. She was so angry she was ready to cry. How could Bessie even think about letting her stay here. It was out of the question.
"Bess, she can not stay here."
"Why not?"
"Do you see who she's with?"
"Pacey. So?"
"You can't let her stay here. If you really love me, as your sister, I beg you. Do not let her stay here."
"Why?"
"I can't tell you..."
"Look, Joey, you either tell me, or she's here."
"Please don't do this Bessie."
"Why?"
"Please don't make me tell you."
"I'm sorry Joey. Honestly, we need all the money we can get. I'm letting her stay."
"Bessie," she said as she broke down in tears. "Please."
Bessie released her arm from Joey's grasp and walked back into the living room. Pacey looked into the kitchen, seeing the state that Joey was in. It pained him. But until she came to him, he wasn't going to do anything about it. He'd made his move, now it was her turn.
"What's the matter, Pace? Don't like the looks of the destruction you've caused?"
He turned and looked down at Jen. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"You know damn well what I'm talking about. How can you do this to her?"
"Do what to her?"
"Hurt her like this? I thought you loved her."
"I'm not discussing my relationship or my feelings for Joey with you. Not right now."
"Look at her Pacey. Look at what you've done to her. You have hurt more than you will ever know. Can you really live with yourself after you know that you've made her cry? You. Not Dawson, not A.J., not Bessie, not me, but you. The guy that says he loves her more than anything in this world has made the invincible Joey Potter cry."
Joey ran off to her room. She needed to get out of there before he saw her cry. She needed to remove herself from the horrible sight of Felicity and Pacey together. She couldn't stand to see them. He looked at her with such affection and she felt her heart being ripped from her chest and smashed with a mallet.
Joey collapsed on her bed and sobbed. She just wanted to cry until she couldn't feel any more. She wanted to cry until she was completly numb. She wanted the feelings she had for Pacey to leave. She didn't want to love him. She wanted her old life back. She wanted things to go back to normal, where she loved Dawson and he didn't return the feelings. That was less painful to deal with than the fact that Pacey's new girlfriend was going to be in her house, living with her, for weeks. She wanted to erase everything over the last seven months and get back to her life without Pacey. The life before she realized that he was a great guy, where she thought he was a creep and a jerk. She wanted all of that back.
She heard her door creak open, hoping and praying that it was him, coming to say he was sorry. It wasn't. She smelled Jen's perfume and cried harder.
"He doesn't even care," she cried.
"He cares more than you think."
"Then why...why are...you here? H-He should be here."
"He wants to be, Joey. Believe me, I saw that look in his eyes when he saw you cry. He wants to be in here with you Joey. He wants to hold you and tell you everything, but he can't."
"H-He can. He j-just doesn't want...too."
"You hurt him bad Joey. You broke his heart. What do you think he would do if you went in there and confessed everything to him right now?"
Joey shrugged as she continued to cry into her pillow. She didn't want to think about it. She wanted him to be there for her. He's always been there when he needed her. He's always been the one she could lean on, no matter what. But he wasn't there when it mattered. He wasn't there when she needed to feel his arms around her, when she needed to smell the smell that could only be described as his smell, when she needed to hear him say that he loved her and was there for her. But, he wasn't there.
"He would chalk it up to jealousy. You don't want him until you can't have him. That's not true, I know, but that's what he'll think. What have you done to show him that you do really care about him? Not much, Jo. You never thanked him for anything he did for you. He put in a lot of selfless work into showing you how much he cared about you and you didn't give it another thought. All the time you talked about Dawson being clueless, I guess that some of it rubbed off on you."
"Joey..." Bessie said walking in her room.
"Go away, Bessie."
"No. I want to know what your problem is?"
"None of your business!"
"If it's none of my business, then why were you begging me not to let that girl stay here? And why are you acting so strange? Why are you crying?"
"Go away, Bessie!"
Bessie looked at Jen defeated. Jen gave her a look of sympathy then turned back to Joey. "Joey, you need to tell her why."
"No. She couldn't take my word at face value...I don't owe her an explanation."
Bessie left the room. Jen felt bad for her, but considering the way that Joey felt right now, she was lucky Joey hadn't thrown her bed-side lamp at her. Joey was in pain. She'd never really seen Joey cry, and seeing this spectacle right now, made her feel sorry for her. She knew that of all the things that Joey Potter wanted, pity wasn't one of them.
"Well, why don't you tell Pacey?"
"Tell Pacey what?"
"That you love him."
"Never. Especially not now. Not after he showed so little respect for me and brought her here. I wouldn't tell him now if my life depended on it."
"Joey..."
"No!" She said sitting up. "How is it fair? How is it justifiable in the way he's acting? He has to have some inclination of how I feel about him and he...he brought her to my house. The place where I work...the place he helped get off the ground. That's...that is something I would never do to him."
