Disclaimer: Unfortunatly, the characters of Pacey, Joey, Jen, Jack, Andie, Dawson, Henry, Bessie, and everyone else are not mine. They belong to Kevin Williamson. The character of Felicity is not mine, she blongs to someone else. Not really sure who. But I'm gonna borrow her.

Author's Note: With all the recent controversy over what will happen between Joey and Pacey, I decided to take matters into my own hands. This is a complete 'what if' factor here so...don't expect it to happen.

Spoiler: Only a spoiler if you haven't seen Season 3 up to the Cinderlla episode. This takes place a few days after that.

Rating: Not sure...yet. Might heat up...then again, might not.

How do you cool your lips
after a summers kiss
how do you rid the sweat
after the body bliss
How do you turn your eyes
from the romantic glare
how do you block the sound
of a voice youd know anywhere

Oh, I really should have known
by the time you drove me home
by the vagueness in your eyes
casual good-byes
by the chill in your embrace
the expression on your face
that told me
you might have some advice to give
on how to be
insensitive

How do you numb your skin
after the warmest touch
how do you slow your blood
after the body rush
how do you free your soul
after youve found a friend
how do you teach your heart
its a crime to fall in love again

Oh, you probably wont remember me
its probably ancient history
Im one of the chosen few
who went ahead and fell for you
Im out of vogue, Im out of touch
I fell too fast, I feel too much
I thought that you might have
some advice to give on how to be
insensitive

Her name was Felicity and she was amazing. She was beautiful, intelligent, and was funny. She was everything a guy could want in a girl. Her hair was brown with short curls that gave her that sophisticated look along with the look of elegance and grace. He's never seen anything like her before. As she flirted with him, which he could tell she didn't do very often, she saw one of the most amazing smiles he'd ever seen.

"So what's your name?"

"I'm Pacey Witter. You're new around here so you probably haven't heard everything about me yet."

"Is there much to know?"

"Well, just that the entire town thinks that I had an affair with my English teacher, but you know idle gossipers, right?"

"So it's not true?"

"I never said that."

"So it is true?"

"I never said that either. I tend to let people believe what they want to believe. It makes everyone's lives a lot easier to deal with if they think that someone is worse off than they are."

"I see the truth in that logic."

"So, Felicity. How long are you here in Capeside?"

"A few weeks."

"Well, that sounds pretty good."

"Pacey! You working today?" Dawson said as he raced up beside his friend.

"Nope, I'm off today D. Oh Dawson, I'd like you to meet Felicity Porter. Felicity, this is my best friend in the world, Dawson Leery."

Dawson extended his hand and shook hers. "Nice to met you Felicity."

"You too, Dawson."

"Pacey have you seen Joey?"

"No." Pacey's smile fell from his face. Joey. The one he dreamed of, the one who would never give him a chance, the one he loved with all his heart, the one who turned him down for the second time. It never ceased to amaze him how much he could have his heart broken and still is willing to stay around the culprit who did the damage in the first place. It was the same way with Andie. He loved her, she pushed him away, he loved her more, she cheated on him, and he still loved her. That was until he fell for Joey. Joey may have treated him like garbage most of the time, but she once said it herself, "You gotta learn to read between the banter." He did, he just read the wrong thing.

"Okay, well, see ya Pace."

"Bye D."

Felicity must have noticed his change of mood and called him on it. "You okay?"

"Huh, oh yeah fine. Wonderful."

"I haven't known you for very long, ten minutes top, but I don't buy that. What's wrong with you?"

"Ever felt the pain of a broken heart?"

"Yes."

"Well, I'm suffering from the mother load of the broken hearts, right now."

"So, this Joey guy broke your heart?"

Pacey laughed a little. "Joey is a girl. Short for Josephine."

"Oh." She smiled.

"You wanna get something to drink or something like that?"

"Are you old enough to drink?"

"Not that kind of drink." he said smiling.

"Oh well, sure."

Pacey led her into the resident coffee house of Capeside and they took a table near the window by the street. Pacey ordered a coke and she ordered a double espresso with extra whip cream. She watched him as he stared out the window. He seemed so downtrodden. He was perky until his friend came up and asked about this Joey girl.

"So what's she like?"

"Who?"

"Joey?"

"Oh...she's...fantastic. She just doesn't want me."

"How so?"

"The guy you met on the street...she wants him. She's been in love with him for as long as I can remember and...I was stupid in the first place. I knew that I never had a chance with her and yet...I still tried."

"So she's been in love with this guy for a long time huh?"

"Yeah."

"And where do your feelings for her come in?"

"I don't know. I've always kind of liked her." He sighed, "The thing is that Dawson sent me to watch out for her after they broke up. I did that. I watched out for her, I was there for her, I fell in love with her, and I've had my heart broken by her. Love sucks."

"Not all the time."

"The worse thing is that I can't stop these feelings. I don't see any way for them to go away except to stop spending time with her and that is completely out of the question."

"Why?"

"I can't. I want to be with her no matter what. I guess I'm masochistic."

"Or maybe, you're afraid of letting go."

Pacey turned to look out the window and saw Joey pull up in Bessie's truck. She climbed out and walk across the street. Felicity turned her attention out the window and found what he was staring at with such interest.

"Is that her?"

"That's her."

"She's beautiful."

"Yes she is."

"Pacey, can I give you a little advice?"

He turned his attention back to her. "Sure."

"If you really feel this strongly for her, don't give up."

"I already have. There's no way she'd ever think about me that way. She's...she's not very open to new experiences."

"Funny. I know people who would say that about me."

"So...you know all about my tortured love life, what about your's?"

"Well, it's pretty much non-existent right now."

"So no boyfriend?"

"No."

"I figured that they'd be lined up for you."

"You should have been in my life last year. Then you might have seen something along those lines."

"Oh really?"

"I lost two of my friends though. It was a very bad situation. But I will never regret the decision I made."

"What was the decision?"

"Well, I was in love with this guy named Ben since...I can't remember when. I followed him to New York after I graduated from high school. It was a dumb reason to go, I know, but I...I didn't really care. But after I got there things changed. I didn't stay there because of him. I stayed for me. Then I met my R.A. Noel. He was the regular guy that was a friend. I confided in him, I talked about Ben with him, and I almost, as embarrassinggas this is, had sex with him. But those plans were foiled by bad timing and a bad situation. But Ben was with my friend Julie, and I wasn't pursuing anything with him. But Julie and Ben broke up Noel and I broke up and I was left with a rather hefty decision to make. While I still liked Noel, I've been in love with Ben and he asked me to go on a trip with him. Noel asked me to go to Europe with him. And I chose to go with Ben even though my friend Julie still had feelings for Ben and Noel still had feelings for me."

"See...the girl always chooses her past."

Pacey turned back to the window and saw Joey approaching the store. If Joey got jealous when she thought that he and Jen had something going on, she wouldn't be very happy with a new person. Especially an older more sophisticated woman.

"Felicity, have you ever made anyone...extremely jealous?"

"Meaning what?"

"Well, how would you like to help me in my little endeavor to get Joey Potter?"

"What do I have to do?"

"Just sit. I want to see something first."

Joey walked into the coffee shop and ordered her drink. She waited as the waiter made it 'to go' and was about to leave the store when she saw Pacey leaning forward talking softly to a brunette. She didn't understand it, two days ago, he kissed her and now he was with another girl? He moves quick, she thought.

She slowly approached them and Pacey looked up to see Joey standing there with her coffee in hand. He saw it, that spark of jealousy that he was looking for. That little twinge that she got when she saw one of the guys in her life threatened by being taken away from her. He knew that he could get her if he did this right. He just had to talk Felicity into it. Which given her previous situation, she would probably agree when he ran it completely by her.

"Hey Jo. I'd like you to meet Felicity Porter. Felicity this is Joey Potter."

"Hi." Joey said curtly.

"Hi."

"Felicity's new here. She's in town for a few weeks so I thought that I'd show her around."

"How very thoughtful of you Pace. He's not exactly known around here for being thoughtful. Only when he sees a new prospect."

"That's rude Joey."

"Bye, Pacey. Bye, Felicity."

"Nice to meet you," Felicity called after her. "She's...bitter."

"Yeah." He said wistfully.

"And you still want to be with her?"

"More than you will ever know."

She thought for a minute. If she had thought that this could have helped her get Ben long ago, she probably would have done the same thing. But faced with the situation of being used as a means to help someone get what they want, seems a little out of character. To do this, she would have to be desperate to help him, and for him to ask, he would really have to care about this girl. He does. She could tell just by watching the way he watches her. By the way he looks at her. She saw that look when Noel used to look at her. It's one that she desperately missed seeing.

"So...about what I said earlier."

"You mean about helping you make her jealous so that she sees that she is madly in love with you the way you are with her?"

"Uh...yeah."

"What about it?"

"Would you consider it?"

"And what do I get in return?"

"What do you want?"

"To draw you."

"To draw me? Are you an art student or is this just something that gets you going?"

"I'm an art student. So what do you say? You let me draw you and I help you get the girl?"

"Sounds fair enough. How long with drawing me take?"

"Couple weeks. You don't mind working in the nude do you?"

"I do my best work in the nude."

She laughed. It was a good line. She should have seen it coming though. It was to easy for anyone to pass up on getting her with.

"So this is a nude portrait? How much is your grade worth?"

"Enough. So helping you...what will that entail?"

"You have to be seen with me in public, by more than just Joey. I know that sounds weird, but if she's the only one that's seen me with you and she questions our other friends about it and they say they've never heard of you, she'll pass you and me off quicker than she can come back with a bitter comment."

"So it has to be believable?"

"Exactly. And since you'll be drawing me, I guess that us spending time together won't look like a complete and utter lie."

"You make it sound like a slimy business deal."

"Is manipulation ever pretty?"

"I guess not. But I have a few ground rules of my own."

"Okay let's hear them."

"Rule number one...when we kiss, because to be accepted as a couple we'll have to, you keep your hands where they belong. Rule number two...no stupid nicknames for each other. When I hear people call each other those in public I feel like I'm going to puke."

"You and me both."

"Rule number three...you will have to treate me to a very ex 1
