| History of Moody's American Cocker Spaniels |
| We are Paul and Jane Moody. Our first show quality Amercan Cocker Spaniel was the foundation of our lines, AKC and Canadian Champion Silver Maple Polly Patches, bred by Ruth Krauechi (Silver Maple Kennel). After completing her championship, we bred her to the top producer at the time, AKC Champion Dreamridge Dominoe, bred and owned by Tom O'Neal (Dreamridge Kennel). Many beautiful champions resulted, including "Tiger" AKC and Canadian Champion Moody's Magic Tri, our tri-color dog, who became a top producer of champions. We have bred over 70 champion cocker spaniels throughout 30 + years, producing champions in all three varieties, primarily parti-color. We have bred champions that are in many other countries as well. Our goal with the cockers has been to produce puppies and adults that are well balanced and have wonderful, happy personalites, as well as structually sound. We health test our cockers for defects via, OFA (certified free of hip dysplasia) and CERF (free of eye defects). By staying current on health examinations, we are trying to do our part to insure that future generations of our cockers will be healthy and free of hereditary defects, as much as possible. We have been fortunate to travel and meet many wonderful friends through our shared interest in American Cocker Spaniels. We have attended the famous Crufts Dog Show in England as well as attending shows in other countries, Denmark, Sweden and Canada to share our interests with friends. We enjoy camping at AKC and the International (IABCA) dog shows in the United States. Paul taught school for 34 years (grades 4, 5, 6) and is now "retired" from teaching, although he stays active by substitute teaching . We enjoy travel in our motorhome and aboard. I also taught school for 34 years (kindergarten and grade 1) and am now "retired". I stay active with the care of our Countryside Boarding Kennel and occasionally help Paul deliver jeeps. We love traveling, whether in our motor home to dog shows or vacation trips. However it is always great to get back home. We live near Quincy, Illinois on 7 acres. This gives us the opportunity to have space for our dogs to enjoy the country atmosphere. It also allows us to have two paint horses to trail ride, when time permits. We thought "retirement" meant a time to relax but we are as active now as before. Please feel free to e-mail, phone or write us, if you would have an interest in one of our cockers, pet or show prospects.
