QUILTERS PLAN BUS TRIP (Kingwood)  

The Literacy Volunteers Quilt Group of Preston County is sponsoring a bus trip to the American Quilter's Society Annual Quilt Show in Paducah, Kentucky, on April 23-26, 2008. This is the 24th annual show for AQS. It features juried and judged quilts, 400 quilts on exhibit, AQS School of Quiltmaking classes, Merchant Mall (a quilt shopper's paradise), fashion show, quilt auction, food, and entertainment. The escorted trip includes 2 days at the quilt show, deluxe motor coach transportation, 3 nights’ lodging, 2 dinners, and 3 breakfasts, as well as entrance into the quilt show. There will be more than 300 vendor booths.

Sign-up for classes will begin in November. There’s a room at the lodge where you can set up your sewing machines to practice what you learn in the classes.
The price is $535.00/person based on double room occupancy, $465.00/person with three to a room, $435.00/person with four to a room, and $707.00 for one person in a room. The price also includes the driver(s)’ gratuity. The breakfasts are deluxe continental. More details will be posted as the itinerary is firmed up.

The trip is being conducted by Mountaineer Country Tours of Kingwood. They specialize in planning tours for pre-formed groups as opposed to selling tours retail. If you have a church group, civic organization, large family or traveling companions, they can put together a tour complete with motorcoach transportation, meals, entertainment, attractions, and lodging. They attend national tradeshows, meeting with attractions from all over the country, so they have some great ideas for tours, too. JoAnn Peterson, MBA
