| This is my beautiful Silver Arowana (Osteoglossom bicirrhosum), and my Red Devil (Amphilophus labiatus). I was given the Arowana six months ago (June of 2005) when it was approximately four inches long. It is now between nine and ten inches. It is hard to get a good measurement because he moves so much. I have not done enough research to know if it is male or female. These fish are in a 75 gallon tank I bought second hand. I'm sure I will need a much larger tank within the next year or so. Arowanas can reach lengths of fourty-seven inches, which would require at least a 110 gallon tank. One mistake many people make is allowing their fish get too big for their tank, at which time either the fish suffers serious damage, or the person gets rid of the fish. Always be sure to research a fish before you buy it. The Red Devil was given to me at the same time and was around three inches. He is now six or seven inches in length. He is the boss of the tank, which would come as no surprise to those who know even a little about Red Devils. Red Devils are usually very aggressive. So far he hasn't bothered the Arowana, probably because he is a different shape and color. He does however like to pester my Blood Red Parrot Cichlid (popular hybrid). No damage done so far, but if anyone near Houston, Texas would like the Blood Red Parrot Cichlid they can send me an email at countryman77539@yahoo.com. Both the Arowana, and the Red Devil enjoy cichlid pellets, tropical fish flake food, and once a week I add 40 rosy red feeder minnows, and 15 gold fish feeders to their tank. I also add ghost/glass shrimp and crawfish/crayfish when I can catch them from a pond located my mother's property. They also get the occasional grasshopper, or cricket when I feel like chasing them down in the yard. The diversity of food sources helps to insure their good health, and keeps them happy. No matter what kind of fish you own, be sure not to just feed one type of food, or they may not get all the vitamins and minerals they need to flourish. |

| Here is the Red Devil Trying to look uninterested in his food (Rosy Reds) so that way it will be easier to catch them. | ||||||||||||||||
