I grew up in a little fishing village called Shag Harbour, which became well known in 1967 as being home of a UFO sighting. Yeah, I know, a lot of people don't believe in UFO's. There was even a book written about it with interviews with local residents. There is now a stamp at the Shag Harbour Post Office commemorating this event, as well as an area where you can look out over the water at where this event allegedly took place. I know because it was across from my family home.
I graduated from Barrington Municipal High School - the one that is now an apartment building - back in 1980. I was one of those strange kids who loved school and books, which is probably why I am a member of bookcrossing.com on the Internet. I still love books. If you enjoy reading you should check the site out and think about joining - it's free. Tell them queenfrog sent you and then check my bookshelf there to see if I have an available book you would like to read (link on home page of this site).
Let's see; what else. I am the proud mother of two sons, Jason and Michael, and have one granddaughter, Tara-Lynne. Jason still lives in my old home town, but Michael and his little girl and his fiance live an hour away from me in Truro. Oh yeah, I no longer live in Shag Harbour. I moved from Shag Harbour to Cape Sable Island when I was first married, then moved to Yarmouth when I got divorced. It was there that I met my second husband, Bryan. We moved around a bit in Yarmouth, enough that I lost count of all the apartments we lived in, lol. We finally moved to Greenwood in the Annapolis Valley. We divorced and he moved to Pugwash for work. I married a guy from the Valley (husband # 3) and we moved to Deep Brook, just outside Digby. That marriage didn't work, mainly due to him being dishonest with me a lot and making me choose between he and Michael. Michael moved to Pugwash to live with Bryan, and just after my first anniversary I moved to Pugwash as well. I have been back with Bryan ever since and we now own our own home. What was supposed to be a two month job for him is now going into year eleven!
I miss my family back home a lot, but I am happy here. It is a beautiful little spot so if you ever travel around this end of Nova Scotia, please stop by and say hello!
I love music and love to sing. I have had a few people tell me I am actually good at it (I have won some nice prizes by singing in contests). I love listening to a great online radio station - radioheart.com ; I hope you listen in some time when you have some spare time. Be sure to tune in when djglitzy is the dj and ask if he will play one of my songs for you!
Let's see, I also love doing crafts. Right now I am working on a cross stitch project of my granddaughter. I had all the floss donated to me by my wonderful friends at bookcrossing.com so I have promised to put progress photos on flickr.com for them to see as I get a little more done. (A link to flickr is on my front page).
I am also working on my family tree which will be available online once I get it ready so keep watch for that link a little later on. (Family members please note: if you have dates and photos you could send me I would appreciate it) |
