1. When you first get your candle be sure and trim your wick to 1/4 of an inch in length.
2. The first time you light a pillar candle, burn it for one hour for each 1 inch of diameter. Example: A 3 inch diameter pillar should be burned for 3 hours the first time you burn it! This will prevent your candle from forming a canyon in the center. It will also set its memory, so that each time you light it, it will burn out to the rim.
3. When burning a container candle for the first time it should also be burned at least one hour for each inch in diameter or until a full melt pool is achieved.
4. Keep your wicks trimmed! This is the most important thing you can do for your candle. This will reduce or eliminate smoking, sooty jars and wicks that mushroom badly.. Trim your wick each time you burn it!
5. Remove any debris from the melt pool, this also causes candles to smoke.
6.Highly scented candles will sometimes develop a mushroom on the wick. This is a sign of a heavily scented candle!
7.To extinguish candle dip the wick into the melted wax with a long object such as a wire or pencil then straighten.
8. Keep your candle out of drafts, and never place them under a ceiling fan. This ensures a more even burn especially in pillar candles.
9. Do NOT burn to the bottom of the jar. Extinguish candle when there is at least 1/4 inch of solild wax in the bottom of the jar. Failure to do so can result in a fire, or the jar getting too hot and bursting!
10. Never leave a candle burning unattended. Accidents and fires happen in seconds!
11. Always burn votives in a snug fitting votive cup. This will increase there burn time and scent throw.
