Du Quoin, IL
Du Quoin State Fairgrounds
Well, my friend Sara and I headed out about 4pm. It was about a 2 hour drive from St. Louis. We were not expecting John. This concert was, at the end of June, and Bryan White and LeAnn Rimes show. But, after Bryan. They had to cancel because of weather. Sara was told Bryan WOULD be back. Well, we found out he wasn't, and that John was there instead. We were dissapointed, but I liked John, so that was cool.
He was incredible! He played about an hour. The seating was in a grandstand. We were in the front row, slightly off center, right on an isle. Well, he started out up at the top of the seats, singing "What's in it for Me" and "Kiss Me in the Car". He ended up walking down our isle, so we got to shake his hand. Someone handed him a St. Louis Cardinals hat. I ended up getting a song list after the show, but I'm still not sure of a few of the songs, because they are abbreviated... but, he did do "Change My Mind", "She's taken a Shine", "Standing on the Edge of Goodbye", "You're Love Amazes Me", "Better Than a Biscuit", and "I Think About it All the Time".
His backup singer looked really familiar to me, and when he introduced the band, I found out why.....it's hi wife!
He auctioned off his boots for St. Judes. Oh, and his socks! A guy paid $1000 for them! So, he was barefoot the rest of the show. People even went up to the stage to give him money.. He said that was the first time that ever happened.
He was just so cool. A couple people went up to the stage with cameras, and he bent down by them and took pictures with them! This little girl came up, and he picked her up and started dancing with her on stage. He shook people's hands, and even signed autograohs during the show. Right in the middle of a song, he'd stop playing guitar to sign!
We only stayed for LeAnn's first song "Sitting on Top of the World". We let these two girls and thier dad, whom Sara had been e-mailing (they had been at the concert that got cancelled), have our seats.
I got some great pictures! (As soon as I get the rest developed, there sshould be a few more!)
