The timing of the appearance of this "specialist" and the character of his "science" seem to suggest that such a question might be pertinent : was "Kalinowsky" the real name of this individual.

It might be : I simply do not know. However, knowing some few things about the anti-Polish propaganda one can be justified in not assuming anything in particular before one knows at least some facts with some certainty. Not to expand onto mere complaining, any prudent reader of any nationality can yet consider that any kind of falsehoods broadly promulgated is likely eventually to affect (and usually harm) any kind of person, anywhere in the world.

The confusion on terms, whether fortuituous or deliberate, had better been guarded against. (There have been at least some instances of such a confusion having been created entirely deliberately by some parties).

This does not necessarily apply to all instances of people's using aliases; or, it does not uniformly apply to all such or similar instances. Before 1917 (the year Russia went "Bolshevik"), conspiracy was the modus operandi by many individuals in that country, often of very broadly differing views ; not every instance of some kind of pseudonym or other must be considered as something unholy.

Some notable precedents of un-Polish individuals using Polish or Polish-like names : Lejba Braunstein (or Bronstein), also known as Trotzky (murdered on Stalin's orders in the 1940's btw.) ; Hirsch Apfelbaum, also known as Zinoviev, also known as Radomyslsky (murdered on Stalin's orders in the 1930's btw.) ; Walter Ginsburg (or Ginsberg), also known as Krivitzky (assassinated, as seems almost certain on Stalin's orders, in the USA 1940's) ; Etienne, also known as Mark Zborowski : the murderer (on Stalin's orders) of Sedov (son of Trotzky) in Paris. Whether Zborowski was in fact this man's family name seems highly doubtful. Appropriately enough, he had, anyway, eventually made a carrier in the USA as a sort of fake psychiatrist.

As the "progress" in the Soviet Union went on, a kind of racket had individuated and had spread round the planet — promising anything to anyone who would listen and be taken in. The fact that some of those activists had in the end perished of what they had initially preached had not stopped the racket. (There may have been some quick personal-advantage sorts of motives ; there may have been a sort of "death wish" present with many votaries of that presently corrupted 'socialism'. Some veritable psychopaths may have been present in the positions of great influence, not having been detected as such).

Should there been any organised action involving a particular family-name the fallout would practically certainly affect many other peoples.

It can be observed that numerous authors under such an exact, or a similar name as that by this electroschock specialist Lothar K., in the library catalogues might have been in fact less numerous than it is being presented. (I have noticed a few precedents of the sort : cf. the notable German historian Fritz Fischer, born in 1908 ; a whole slew of Fritzes Fischer can be found listed by the University of California, more of them than would seem likely to have appeared within a period, not taking care to distinguish themselves by some sort of middle initial or any other mark).

The Scientist, anywhere in the world (who is not a 'philosopher of science' nor a falsifier) : please note that the more aggravating a subject-matter the more likely it is to provide fertile ground for any kind of troublemaker. The story of this Lothar Kalinowsky with his "medicine" had better been kept an eye on : lest a legion of new publications ("discoveries" or the like) obscure everything that had ever been thought of as worth living for (before the appearance of this "medicine").

Whether this man was the particular one to blame I do not know : but there has been a sort of veritable HORNETS' NEST a-buzz, arguing against anybody's and everybody's common sense notions of a medical cure.

How come this calamity has ever been tolerated could be an interesting subject for some truly scienfic research. Part of it might be, even those psychiatrists who were not Stalin's agents or otherwise pure frauds could find themselves in a hopeless position when facing some cases.

These subjects had never been easy ones ; with the admixture of the merest sabotage to purely political purposes these things would get ugly : to the point that few would want but to look on the infernal scene.

I (this writer) would not pretend to offer a full explanation ; it seems that any "cures" which have been claimed for this practice may have been something on the order of a forceful jab on the jaw — which would cure somebody's toothache ; but the side effects might be less than neccessary.

ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION. this has ever been a principle to apply when one does not know better.

DO NO HARM : this has ever been the first principle of any true medicine (cf. Hippokrates). Has this been ever considered much by those butchers ?

The evidence is extremely tenouous* that that principle (the first principle of medicine) had ever taken precedence before somebody's PROVING that it is a "safe and effective" treatment — by numerous arguments, charts, etc.

    * Applying the "benefit of the doubt" in that statement. I for one see no evidence whatever, by any of the advocates of this treatment to have considered the well-being of their patients before the "proofs" of its alleged safety etc.

Just examine this literature, any literate person. CAUTION : this is sick material and it might tend to make one feel uncomfortable. Do not immerse in it (else one might tend to go psychotic. This literature can be efficient indeed as a means of extending insanity).

HOW do you know this is a 'safe' treatment — no matter who says so ? You do not know, the reader, before you had actually experienced it. (But by that time your personal judgement would be opened to questioning by anyone).

The only alleged evidence of the 'safety' of this treatment have been the statements by the practitioners engaging in it (and by a few recipients, but not all of the recipients and very far from all the recepients).

Why — not everybody had died of it : Therefore it is a 'safe and efficient' treatment — (This one statement is a joke, the GALLOWS HUMOUR category).

More "scientifically" speaking : it DID NOT ACTUALLY KILL THE PIGS (Abrams, 1997, quoting Cerletti, 1950 and Accornero, 1980). That fact had provided ENCOURAGEMENT for trying it on the humans (ibidem).

Just READ this "science", if you do not believe me, anyone.

THE "SCIENCE" OF ELECTROSHOCK :

"In a successful course of treatment, the brain will experience a sequence of biochemical and electrical events that are expressed in the body as epileptic seizures. A seizure is a coordinated brain and motor response that is present in the newborn infant, is retained throughout life, and has been observed in all animals."
(Max Fink, Electroshock, New York and Oxford, 1999, p. xi).

Shame on You, OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS

A seizure is a coordinated brain and motor response ? (let alone the rest of the above.)

Any Scientist : Anywhere in the World :

If this be "not my subject" then what is going to be left of your subject — if such "science" as the above be countenanced indefinetely long ?
