"An overwhelming victory was won at the polls as the people of Berkeley voted yes on a proposition to say no to shock". [in 1982]Why did THAT pain so much a few ?
If those must electrocute others, they still had the entire non-Berkeley America to apply their "science" to.
Wake Up, somebody, everybody. The people in Berkeley had said no, to something an excercise in the true democracy, i.e. self-government by the people (confer the Greek 'demos', district, the people of a district).
No had been said to BOGUS SCIENCE, this being a somewhat distinct issue. Were there to be any merits to this treatment, the people in Berkeley did not want it anyway.
WHO had any real problem with that where and why ?
In the end, the people of Berkeley had been defrauded in more ways than one.
Continuing attempts can be seen, at misleading the public as to the true nature of this "science", going on in the meanwhile. JUST EXAMINE THIS "SCIENTIFIC" LITERATURE, anyone who can read.
You usually find in it : * Vague (uncertain) claims of efficacy,
* Untrue claims of safety,
* Perverted logic,
Example : the inherent risk has been reduced, in other words, the mortality-rate following this "treatment" is advertised to be less now. In other words, statistically less killing had been achieved by the electroshock specialists : this might be true since even the organised crime has to mind some sort of public relations That possibly true statistic, somewhat lower average mortality-rate, has been described as "the inherent safety has been augmented" (Richard Abrams, Electroconvulsive therapy, 3rd ed. New York, 1997, Preface).
Read this "literature", anyone. The Scientist especially, anywhere in the world ; since "science" has been usually invoked by this apparent terrorist network to justify its claims, towards further intimidating and reducing the people in America etc.* Plain false statements, abundant in some of those publications, too numerous to be mere mistakes or anything that could conceivably have been done inadvertently.
Any Scientist, Anywhere in the World, anyone who can read : if this was an acceptable treatment then no reams of baloney would be necessary for "proving" such a proposition.
Anyone in the world, please alert any true scientist anywhere at all to this, for it looks like it might be only some sort of "tip of an iceberg".
Should it be permitted that the entire Humanity perish or degenerate because of some few "specialists" ? IN THE NAME OF SCIENCE ?
What other consequences could be foreseen of those actions, if continued, by some few ?

"1982 In 1982... [Ted] Chabasinski organized what eventually became the Berkeley ban, a citizens movement aimed at stopping electroshock in Berkeley [California] and specifically at Herrick Hospital, a general hospital with a psychiatric ward. An overwhelming victory was won at the polls as the people of Berkeley voted yes on a proposition to say no to shock. But within a few weeks the American Psychiatric Association had obtained a court order overturning the vote. Eventually the case was won by organized psychiatry, etc."
