From The Social Interpretation of History by Maurice William, 1921

Although the operations of Social Evolution in capitalist society are bewildering in their complexity, it is yet possible to discern that they are working out in four well-defined forms: (1) Social and industrial reforms; (2) public ownership of the means of transportation and communication; (3) direct taxation; (4) governmental activity in the distribution of consumable wealth.

Comment the historic importance of this work may warrant some attention in spite of its apparent faults.

(1) is entirely vague.

(2) is a restatement of Article 6 in the Communist Manifesto by Marx and Engels (1948). Personally I would express no opinion on this one for I am not sufficiently informed.

(3) is a restatement of Article 2 in the Communist Manifesto and this one is bad ; besides, insofar as this applies to the U.S.A., it is directly contrary to the U.S. Constitution as is stood before the tampering done in 1913.

(4) seems vague and does not look good.
