| Making Your Time in Class Count Sit as close to the front of the classroom as possible. Join in class discussions. Your entitled to your opinion. Express yourself! Ask questions. Everyone else is wondering the same thing. Get a planner and keep up with your assignments. Network with other students for missed assignments and help with more difficult topics. Two heads are better than one. Ask for help from your teacher in any class in which you are falling behind. Learn to use a keyboard. No hunt and peck! Learn to take good class notes. Punctuation, capitalization, and spelling errrors can make a letter grade difference on your work. Develop testing taking skills. (click here for Test Taking Skills Link) Making Your Time at Home Count Make it a habit to meet or beat all deadlines and honor your commitments. Go to bed at a reasonable time. Exercise daily. Make sure you have fun each day. Laughter really is the best medicine. Eat regular meals not just junk food. Be self aware and monitor your health. If something's wrong tell your parents and see a doctor. Plan a homework schedule and stick to it. Notice when you learn best and take advantage of that knowledge. Ask your family to read and make suggestions about your writing. Take time to read something fun and interesting each day -- newspaper, novel, comic books, magazines, etc. Use a dictionary for looking up new words.
