Allen Shade Senior
Backround: A true shade generally retains the appearance it had before the change in life, looking like a normal human being. Though when not actually interacting with living creatures, the true shade appears as a spectral, decayed version of its appearance at the time of its death. Its pallid skin is drawn tightly over its bones. The flesh is cold and clammy. The sunken eyes are dull and heavy-lidded but, when the true shade is angered, the eyes blaze with unnatural intensity. The true shade bears an aura of sadness, anger, and determination.

Combat:   True shade's are utterly immune to charm, sleep, enfeeblement, cold (magical or natural), electricity, hold, insanity, and death spells or symbols.  True shade's are immune to mind affecting spells and psionics, illusions, and to electricity and magic missiles. They cannot be poisoned or paralyzed.
If the true shade stares into its victim's eyes, that person must roll a successful Will save DC 18 or be paralyzed with terror for 2d4 rounds.

Spell Like abilities:
Chill Touch, Invisibility, Gust of Wind
Polymorph Self, Control Weather, Shadow Walk.

Although it is undead, the true shade is motivated entirely by self-will. Therefore, as it is not inherently evil, it is not affected by holy water, holy/unholy symbols, or other religious paraphernalia. It cannot be turned by priests nor can it be raised or resurrected. As for when slain its soul which is forever a part of the Plane of Shadow  rebuilds itself a new body within the Plane of Shadow.

Habitat/Socity: True shades hate both bright light and total darkness. Preffering Vaiegated lighting with patches of difuse light and deep inky shadows. On the Prime Material plane, their Lairs are always places that provide shadowy light for most of the day. They prefer ancient ruins, where they can hide underground when the sun is bright and still find shadows above ground during dawn and twilight. In the Plane of Shadows, they live in dense thickest of trees and brambles. fortified castles or labyrinthine caves. In either plane, they prefer to locate their Lairs near coloies of other creatures that can alert them to potential foes or victims. The true shades seldom actually cooperate with these allies, however though the true shades commonly prey on them. True shades love dark-colored, opaque gems. and especially prize black stones. They also collect magical items that produce shadows or darkness. They use these items to turn areas filled with total darkness or light into masses of shadows.

Ecology: True shade's are created in a dark ritual that divides a creature's essence into three parts.  True shade's never need to eat, sleep, drink or rest.  True shade's are not part of the natural ecosystem and have no natural enemies. Also a true shade can be born to a mortal  and a shade mating.
