| Irvine's basically a cowboy, so hunt through cowboy costumes. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Coat - Dear God, this coat is hard to find. I hear about other people using house coats. I finally found almost his exact coat, collar and all, at BodyShop for $100. It's way hot though, since it's completely fur-lined. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Pants -Irvine wears chaps. You can make chaps by buying tan pants and cutting out the crotch section (study pics of him. Look at Irvine toys and cosplayer pics). You also have to add the knee... things. You could buy fabric for that and cut it into the right shape and sew it. I suggest corderoy, or pleather pants, thought they're hard to cut. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Vest - Very hard to find. I eventually found a brown leather vest in Wallmart for $15 and dyed it navy blue. There's dispute over whether his vest is blue or purple: use your judgement. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Necklace - Has five round parts to it. The side four have red... stones? I just went with a neckalce I had bought at Claires earlier. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Boots - Any old black or brown cowboy boots will work. I bought a pair of dark brown ones at Wallmart for $30. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Gloves - He has fingerless gloves. You can buy them on the internet for about $13, but I just bought a studded pair at Spencers for $5 (you can also find them at halloween stores). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Hat - Irvine has a dark colored hat with metal circles on it, encircling it. I found just that hat for $20 on the internet. You could just buy a cowboy hat and add the circles later. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Gun - Check your Con's rules before making one. Some cons refuse gun-like props. I know the AWA does. I never made a gun, so I couldn't give advice on it. A friend suggested two lengths of PVC piping. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Wearing the Costume - You will be very hot. See the Squall page for more info about preventing overheating. Smile a lot, flirt with anything that moves. Lean casually against walls. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| A word on Heat - You will be VERY VERY HOT in this costume. Just a warning. Drink lots of fluids, and make sure to wear the costume a couple times before the con to get an idea of just how hot you will be. The sweat will pool in your shoes, I kid you not. One thing I did to save myself a little grief was take an ice cooler with me, with those gel ice packs in it. Whenever I was not wearing my costume, I put the small items (fur collar, gloves, pants, shirt) into the cooler. The chill certainly helped cool me down. This is probably a great thing to do if you have more than one costume. Don't use ice: don't want your costume getting wet. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Gunblade - I didn't have one. I'll comment on this whenever I get one. You can find them on Ebay occasionally going for more than $200 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
