A brief history of our clan and its place in Team Acro

The first official clan in Acrophobia was The Acro Faction, founded in mid-1997. The next day the Circus Clowns formed and, shortly thereafter, Cin founded the Couch Rules Clan, firmly rooted in the Couch room (still their hang out after all this time). The CR's membership exploded. They also introduced a form of play called "Couch Rules" where the winner picks a topic that is not listed by Acrophobia. There are disputes about who first suggested the Couch Rules playing style, though most people agree it was Cin, who also came up with a plan of playing "mini bouts", wherein the first clan to win two face-offs would be the winner of the bout. The Acro Faction and Couch Rules Clan played in the first official Acrophobia clan bout ever.

On 12/23/97, outrage erupted around the Couch Rules clan's "badge". Members of the Couch Rules Clan had taken to adding "*CR*" to the end of their names. Although the intention of doing so was to spread team/clan awareness in the Acro community, it had an undesired side effect: non-teamers visiting the Couch room saw the tags and, not liking them, created problems. Cin sadly announced the dissolution of her team soon after, but massive written support from those involved in the team/clan effort, and the adoption of an "AF" tag by The Acro Faction, convinced her to change her mind. Due to difficulties in arranging games between clans, a number of initiatives began. Cin proposed that matches not go forward unless both teams could produce 7 players.

Cin *CR* remained as clan leader until May 20, 2000. During her time as the leader of the clan, over 100 people donned the *CR* stripes as members of the Couch Rules Clan. When she resigned, Shrloo*CR*, Toymaker*CR*, and rocdoc*CR* stepped forward as interim administrators, and were elected as clan Tri-Captains by the members shortly thereafter. Their tenure was short lived, however. During this difficult transitional phase while the clan adjusted to the absense of Cin, our newly elected tri-leaders were faced with an overwhelming amount of resistance and arguments from the clan. Many members left the clan and the future of the *CR*'s was an unknown. Shrloo was the first to leave and was replaced by Catfancy*CR*. Catfancy won the clan's vote in a very close race with Sue698*CR*. Shortly thereafter, Toymaker left the *CR*'s. A good portion of the clan also left. Shortly thereafter, Toymaker formed a new team. Sue698*CR* was elected to step in to replace him. Then, RocDoc resigned leaving the two leaders that remain currently. The contributions of Jazzy*CR*, the official Webmaster!, have proved invaluable. Her web design talent is reflected in our fantastic site. The clan is running great! Membership is near an all time high and the positive attitude shared by all the *CR*'s is overwhelming. The Couch Rules Clan is back to being the best clan in ACRO!
