Super12 2002 - Round Six
The Reds, Brumbies and Waratahs all cross the Tasman this week to play what should prove to be three enthralling matches.
Blues v Waratahs
On the basis of preseason form, the Blues were tipped by many to be genuine contenders for the Super12 crown this season. One of their victims prior to Round One were the Waratahs, who received a hiding. However, to the surprise of many, it has been the Waratahs who have put their hands up so far, while the Blues have been solid but unspectacular. Will the Waratahs start to stumble against quality opposition? This week should tell the tale.
Waratahs by 10.
Hurricanes v Reds
Lomu v Sailor. And that's about that, really. Oh, and the Reds should win handsomely.
Reds by 20.
Crusaders v Brumbies
The match of the round, and quite possibly the match of the regular season. Two heavyweights going toe to toe at Jade Stadium in Christchurch. The Crusaders are capable of upsetting the Brumbies at the best of times. This time, though, the Brumbies have the unenviable task of traveling half way around the globe to meet their arch rivals. Anything could happen here, but on the strength of their second half performance against the Stormers, I'm sticking with the Brumbies - though victory may only be secured in the dying minutes of the match. Much will depend on the boot of Stirling Mortlock. Oh dear.
