Overall ratings:
4/5
A very encouraging and educational series.
Casts:
Bowie Lam (林 保 怡) as Fong Ka Fai, Stephen Fung (馮 德 倫) as Fong Ka Hin, Joey Yung (容 祖 兒), Yo Yo Mon (蒙 嘉 慧), Cathy Tsui (徐 子 淇)
Storyline:
The story basically talks about how two brothers (Stephen and Bowie) were separated from young and later met again. However, Bowie was shocked to find that his younger brother, Stephen was suffering from Schizophrenia (a kind of mental illness). And to his surprise, his drug-addicted mother caused his brother illness. Bowie blamed himself for causing his brother to be ill and decided to take care of him. However, his wife was too afraid to live with Stephen and decided to left Bowie. Later, Bowie even lost his job because of things he had not done. He takes over his father's small contractor company and with the help of Yoyo they were able to survive. However, business is not that good. Later Bowie set up FAI.COM and was quite successful. Bowie ended up with Yoyo who is always around to encourage and support him. Yoyo was indeed the woman behind a successful man. Bowie would not have succeeded without Yoyo.
As for Stephen, he was an office boy at the beginning of the show and he was optimistic and always smiles at everybody. However, this caused some of the guys in the office to dislike him, as he is famous among the gals in the office. Later they found out that he used to be a mentally ill patient and took away his medicine and tried to make fun of him. This causes his illness to relapse. But Stephen managed to recover soon after. However, he got seriously ill again when his mother stole all his savings. He was going to use that money for further studies. Later with the care of his brother and his determination, he managed to recover. When Stephen was in the hospital because a car knocked him down, he got to know Cathy who is also suffering from mental illness. Cathy was in love with Stephen a lot but Stephen loved Joey instead. Because of some misunderstanding Joey thought that Stephen don't like her and decided to leave him. Cathy also knew that the one Stephen loved is Joey and not her. However, Cathy still wished to be together with Stephen before she died because of a terminal illness. It is really sad when Cathy died alone in the airport. Later, Stephen and Joey finally got together and Stephen became a famous pianist.
Funniest Character:
YoYo's grandmother
I can't say that it is really funny but her character is that carefree type with less worries as compared with the other characters.
Funniest scene:
Very few funny scenes.
Couple I like Best:
Bowie and Yoyo - The two of them really makes a great couple. They have many things in common. Bowie had to take care of his brother and Yoyo had to take care of her grandmother. Both of them face lots of difficulties in life but with great determinations they are able to over come every problem. Yoyo is really a great help to Bowie. She is the one who encouraged Bowie to start his own business when he is out of job and depressed. She is the one who encouraged him when he encounters problems when taking care of his brother.
Most Touching or Sad Scene:
I think there are many scenes in this series which are touching. Just to name a few scenes here:
The scene when Stephen's mother was going to a camp in another island to kick her habit of taking drugs. Stephen's mother really regrets for causing Stephen's illness.
The part where Cathy died alone at the airport. I think that she is really unfortunate. When she had recovered from her mental illness, she got some terminal illness and her only love, Stephen doesn't love her. So pitiful.
The part where Stephen's mother is going to die in the camp and Stephen refuses to go and see her for the last time.
My Favourite Actor/Actress in this series:
Stephen - I rent this series because of him. I want to see how he act as a mentally ill patient. I saw Stephen acted as a mentally ill poet in the movie "The Poet" before I saw this series. So I think he must have lots of experience in this type of role. I think that this is very tough role as he can only use his gesture and few lines to express his feelings. I think that Stephen managed to do that quite well. Stephen has proven that he has looks as well as acting abilities.
Bowie - I think his performance is great in this series.
Yoyo - Her performance is natural.
Cathy - Her performance is quite impressive as a newcomer.
Actor/Actress whom I think needs more improvements:
Amazing, none ! The reason I said that it's amazing is that there are so many new actors and actresses in this series. Yet, I really can't find any "bad" actor or actress in this series. I saw from the TVB Green Hope website that many dislike Joey and said that she is ugly (with big gums) and that she can't act. But, I think, as a newcomer she did quite a good job and she is not that bad looking and her gums is not that "big". However, I think she should try not to use eye drops next time. (I saw from one Hong Kong entertainment website that she used eye drops in her crying scenes.)
Most hateful or irritating character:
Raymond and Joey's brother.
Raymond is the villain who always wants to destroy Bowie's career. He drives Bowie out of the designer's company and later when Bowie sets up his own business and was quite successful, he appears again to frame him of releasing business secrets to other companies. As for Joey's brother, he tries to bully Yoyo's grandmother when no one is around. He even cheated Yoyo's savings.
Something Special about this series:
This series uses classical music as the background music and at the end of each episode they will show some very encouraging phrases.
