*OUR PETS*
This page is devoted to our pets, the ones which are still with us and those which are no longer with us. Having pets is a very enriching experience but when they leave us it is painful. We learn to accept that life is like that.
When picking a pet from the store, you have to be very careful. If you bring home a sick animal, there is a big possibilty that it will die especially if it is still young. It's  heart-breaking!. The basic tips are to looks for signs of lethargy, if the store owner drops it during picking up, runny noses, runny eyes and other signs depending on the type of animal. If you buy a newborn pet, pls be sure you know how to care for it and be ready to spend a lot of time caring for it thru all sorts of weather and time.
(update April'03: I  now hv 3 rabbits, Fred the dog, a bird and a turtle )
Fred the Bassett Hound
Come and meet Fred!! He's our bassett hound and he's been with us for almost 9yrs now. He loves digging up my pot plants during the summer,to keep cool, i guess.
After he's had a bath, he looks quite handsome :)
Fatso the Hamster
This is Fatso,(above) she's our hamster. We brought her home Aug'99. She's a bit of a grouch so we keep her in a cage our her own. We've since changed her home to a Habitrail Safari, and she has learned to open the cage door.
* Fatso has left us now in her old age. She died on 11 June '01 while i held her in my palm, stroking her head as she laid there  struggling with her breathing .
Here are Fatty (left), Fluffy(mid), & Blackie(right) in their Habitrail Home. Fatty and Blackie are parents of 5 little ones.
All my hamsters are gone now.
On the right is one of another litter. She has one red eye and one black. Her Mom's eyes are both red and they have almost identical coats. The only way to tell them apart now is by their eyes. I think Blackie's her father.
Sonia and her rabbits. She had them for her birthday Aug '99. They were supposed to be miniatures ,i guess we got cheated. They've grown rather big and fat. They eat regular rabbit food and Kaytee brand Timothy hay,& green veggies. The brown one knows how to open the cage door, so i can tell you for sure that rabbits are smart!! LOL
We bought 2 guinea pigs in May'00, but the one on the left died not long after. Even the vet doesn't know why. The one on the right is kinda fat now. She likes to squeal a lot. Her fave food? Timothy Hay!! We've named her 'Miss Piggy' but my daughter calls her 'wee-wee girl' coz she squeals a lot for attention. When i squeal at her, she squeals back! Drives Peter nuts! LOL. (update Aug '02: both my guinea pigs are now gone. The one on the right died this summer 2002.)
our male chipmunk
I  found out that those creatures in the pic are not squirrels but in fact, CHIPMUNKS! Fancy that!! LOL.... Thanks to Tami for the info thru my guestbook. Over here in Taiwan, they call it 3 striped squirrels. I'm so glad that is cleared now. They love fresh corn, apples & sunflower nuts. Their tummy's all fat now. I have 2 males and a female.
(.2 of my chipmunks escaped. silly me... they ran away while i was clening their cages. Now i hv one male left)
(update 22 Feb'03- My chipmunk died today peacefully all curled up in it's house)
(Oct 2002) A new addition to the family. It's a Temple Turtle. We bought it near a temple. LOL.. makes sense, right?

This is a picture of Sonia with our cockatiels which left us on May 22, 2001.  We got them as bald chicks on Jan 23, 2001 and hand-fed them till they were old enough to eat by themselves. They were really cute things with big personality. I am told that they probably had a virus which seems to affect birds like these and parrots too. Doesn't make me feel any less sad though.

Update: 2April'03
This is the latest addition to our family. A zebra-white finch. Or was it white-zebra finch? whatever... It came home in mid feb about 2weeks old. Hand fed it and now it's finally eating on its own. Smart lil thing knows how to open its cage door.
Here's a website that is worth looking into. Anyone planning to have a pet, be it a dog, cat or any little critter, think about it carefully, know that there are so many strays out there, once a family member but now roaming the streets alone and scared. Adopt a dog from t-aarf !
