Mock Champagne
A Cothrell family favorite for years!

1/2 C.    sugar
        1/2 C.    water
        1/2 C.    grapefruit juice
        1/4 C.    orange juice
        2   C.     gingerale, chilled
        3 Tbs.    grenadine syrup
       
    Combine sugar and water in saucepan.  Simmer, uncovered, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved.  Cool. 
    Combine sugar mixture with grapefruit and orange juice.  Add grenadine syrup and chill.    Just before serving, slowly add gingerale. Serve over ice.
