The Winters Tale
Home
A hysterical moment when I discovered a moth hole in a favorite sweater.  I have not seen a moth hole in years. I decided to go to my herbal recipes.

MOTH BAG ( circa: 1860 )
Take of Cloves, Caraway seeds, Nutmeg, Mace, Cinnamon and Toquin Beans, 1 oz.;
Then add as much Florentine Orris Root as will equal the other ingredients.  Put together.
Grind the whole well to powder, and then put it in little bags among the clothes.

Or Lavender :
Protects clothes from dirty filthy beasts.

Or Wormwood
Being laid amongst clothes will make a moth scorn to meddle with clothes,
Also Put some wormwood in your ink and the mice will never chew on your love letters.

A nice sachet for moths:
10 oz. shavings of cedar
1 oz. oak moss
2 oz. southern wood
2 oz. whole cloves
2 - 5 crushed cinnamon sticks
1 oz. orris root
Put into muslin bags and put amongst your woolens

Another Moth Sachet
1 C. Rosemary
1 C. Vetivert Root
1 C. Penny Royal
5 whole Bay Leaves
