January 2006
SOME  NOTEWORTHY  JANUARY  DATES:

Jan. 17
Ben Franklin,  Statesman and Inventor, was born in 1706.
McMinnville's  Golden Valley Brewery and Restaurant joined Brewers from all over America in honoring
Franklin's 300th birthday.  They served Poor Richard's Ale - a beer specially brewed for the occasion.

Jan. 24 According to a British researcher, January 24 is the most depressisng day of the year. It is something about - a month after Christmas and bills come due.  New Year's Resolutions broken, or maybe, something about 40 days of rain!
Cooks Country magazine's February/March issue has a recipe for "Wacky Cake" under lost recipes.

Jan.  25 Robert Burns, Scottish poet, born in 1759.

Burns, Oregon has a big celebration.  The Resort at the Mountain, also, has a special celebration.  Many others raised a glass of Scotch to toast Robert Burns on his birthday and .... maybe sang a round
of Auld Lang Syne.

Jan.  29, 4703
( by the lunar calendar ) begins the year of the Dog.
