PROPS
THE GUARDIAN
Our first attempt at making a Monster Mud creation turned out pretty well.

We built the frame out of 2x4s and chicken wire and then began the monster mud process.

It's one messy job, but the results are outstanding.

We have a blue spotlight that shines out from the guardian's hood and illuminates the sign at the entrance.

All the trick or treaters kept thinking it was a person that would jump at them.
THE GATES
The entrance gates were new for 2004.  The pillars are 6-inch pvc pipes that fit into the base and cross-piece made from plywood.  The CEMETERY was jigged out and lined with black material while the inside of the box was lined with reflective mylar so the 2 light bulbs inside would shine more brightly.  This looks really cool at night!  The plywood was faux painted with a variety of gray shades and was texturized using sand in the latex paint to give it the texture of a rough sandstone.
The columns are anchored in the ground with 18-inch rebar and chained to stakes for added protection against wind.  Safety first!  The gates swing shut and are locked to protect from some mischief makers that made off with 3 tombstones in '03.  Motion sensor lights add to the security.
THE SCARECROWS
After visiting Busch Gardens HallowScream, we were inspired to create these large scarecrows using old split fencing.
They were immense and terrifying when combined with the cornstalks.
We had 4 in total with life size scarecrows on them with pumpkin heads.  Pretty low tech, but definitely a crowd pleaser.
