Dear Applicant,
I want to thank you for your interest in Costa del Sur. As you may know CDS is one of three California Subject Matter Project sites for Health and Physical Education, and Health Education. The Summer Institute is held on the campus of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. During the year there are many other activities which are held at public school sites across the eight counties served by Costa del Sur.
Enclosed, please find an application for the 2001 Summer Institute. The deadline for this application is April 26, 2002. Confirmation of your application will be mailed to you as soon as it is received. Selection of new participants will be made by May 5th. Preference will be given to applicants who come from Target schools, i.e., schools that score in the lower 40 percentile on the API scores, high schools and university teacher educators. All applicants will be informed soon after that date.
There will be an orientation for selected applicants on Saturday, May 11, 2002 from 9:30 am. - 3:00pm. CDS will pay lodging for any participants who need to travel more than 2 1/2 hours to get here.
