The
Happy Valley Mystery
Trixie
couldn’t sleep this night –
Tomorrow
she would be on a flight!
A
flight to Iowa, and Uncle Andy would give her a kiss
As
soon as she found the sheep he missed.
The
day had come, the journey began,
With
Mart and Brian, but not with poor Dan,
With
Honey and Di and Jim of course, too.
And
they all would help her finding a clue,
A clue
to solve this mystery there –
Jeepers!
She couldn’t have been happier!
They
reached the farm and two sheep dogs came.
One
Bob-White loved them: Who if not Frayne?
The
days passed slowly and Trixie tried
To
find out where the sheep may hide.
Unfortunately
all her ideas were wrong
And
the time she had left wasn’t that long.
With
Honey and Jim she drove to town
And
also backwards, not able to suppress a frown.
She
knew the answer but couldn’t prove.
Jeepers!
This journey wasn’t that smooth
As she
had thought it to be.
Especially
with Jim and this honey-bee…
And
while still thinking
About
her heart’s pain
They
were suddenly sinking –
Oh no!
The rain!!
The
flood played with their little car
And
they fled to a barn, not too far.
And
nobody knew that they were here –
But
stop! What could they suddenly hear?
A
whistle! A whistle from an old friend!
It was
Mart – he reached Trixie his hand.
“Miss
Belden, that’s typical for you –
you
got into trouble as you always do.”
They
drove back, to Uncle Andy’s farm,
And
nothing did Trixie’s heart still harm.
She
knew the answer – and yes, she was right!
And
they all had a bath and a quiet night.
The
day had come, the journey began,
Back
to Crabapple, but still without Dan.
The
sheep were now where they had to be,
And
Trixie felt happy and Trixie felt free.
“Iowa,
I will come back one day!
So
it’s not a good-bye I now say.
Be
sure, we’ll meet again.”
Well, that’s another story – this is the
end.
One facts afterwards: I hope this didn’t cause confusion but I did not mean Honey with
the honey-bee. I was talking about Dot.
The man I lived with beat me all day
And so I decided, ”Gosh! I’ll run away!”
But where on earth did my uncle hide?
He wasn’t there when I searched for him.
- Oh by the way, I forgot: Hello, my name
is Jim. -
So there I was, still no home found.
Hungry I was, but that didn’t count
but just that I was away from Jonesy now.
No beats anymore? I couldn’t believe it,
wow!
Suddenly: A noise?! What did I hear?
All the books fell onto the floor!
I jumped to my feet and was scared even
more:
There stood two girls, I didn’t know who.
Oh what harm would they to me do?
They were nice, so I was fine.
Together we spent lots of time.
I would eat, sleep and ride,
And after in the house I’d hide.
I had a wonderful life
And thought, Could this blonde become perhaps my wife?
They began a search for my uncle’s money –
Um, well, mainly Trixie, and not so much
Honey.
But whatever my both friends did do,
They never found a single clue.
I didn’t care, I wasn’t mad,
what I needed I already had.
Some food, some sleep, two friends around –
But wow! Guess what they finally found!
The house burned down, just like dry hay
But they saved a mattress – hoorray!
Call me not a nut, this was so fine,
For it hid much money, and all was mine!
But unfortunately – oh no!
Of the money I didn’t know.
So again I ran off, but to make it better,
I
left them a good-bye letter.
“Trixie, thanks for all you did.
You really are a crazy kid!
And Honey of course, you are too.
Words can’t say how I love you two.
So buy your horse with my good ring
So you can ride and happily sing:
We are cheerful, we are free,
and like this we will always be!
And I’ll forget Jonesy, simply forget about
him!
Have a nice time, in friendship, Jim.”
