I am told that a 'meltdown' of the Ford Cosworth engine wiring loom is 'quite normal' considering the age of the loom and the environment that it survives in!  Unfortunately I did not take any pictures of the loom as it was, but I do have pictures below of the 'resurrection' process.  What I did, was to re-thread the entire harness into a new connector (which connects into the ECU) and replace all of the melted wires.  Curiously, these were all of the earth wires.
