02/01/01 Build Diary Continued

I also found time to go to the scrappy's, but to my dismay 'my' Cosworth had gone to be 'recycled'. Luckily the scrappy owner had the foresight to take the exhaust out of the car, which I now pick-up off him to 'recycle' in the DAX. I want to use the front pipe and / or simply the flanges to make my own exhaust (as referred to above) for the exhaust. I have also decided to make my own exhaust system.

In addition to this, I wanted to further look at the engine wiring loom as this is set to come back to me (and unfortunately have to pay L) some time this month, perhaps I can stretch it to next month so that the 'pain' will only hit me in one month with the chassis and engine having to be paid for all at the same time! In so doing I stripped the original loom from all of the black insulating tape and found ….. quite literally a bloody mess. Some of the connections were missing (probably 'cut-loose' by the guys removing the engine) and more worryingly, that some of the wires has completely melted (click to see picture), probably due to a short-circuit somewhere in the loom. But where?!? My next task tomorrow will be trying to sort out which wires are damaged and will need to be replaced, what they did using the wiring diagram from the Rush Owners Club site.
