Deep, Only to Sink Deeper

Description: What is Ash's reaction when Brock kisses him without warning?

Nonchalant voices shadowed the forest, silently echoed by the sound of the light of dawn.

The birds capable of the noise uttered a small cry...then a surprising howl.

It woke Ash, Misty, and Brock.

"Those birds are such clocks," Misty said, yawning.

"Except you can't set them to the time you *want* to awake," Brock said.

Misty sighed. "Look at Ash," she said, motioning towards Ash's tent. "He'll sleep through anything."

"Maybe I should go wake up him," Brock said.

"Go ahead."

Brock climbed into the tent. How he wanted to trace Ash's smooth, clear facial features with his hand. 'If only I had skin like this...' Brock thought.

Brock inched closer to see if he was breathing, because it didn't exactly appear so.

But Ash was fine.

"Ash...Ash, wake up," Brock said, shaking him lightly.

"Kiss my butt," he muttered.

"Sure," Brock said as he actually did, lifting the blanket and starting to pull down Ash's pants...

"Hey hey HEY! What the heck do you think you're doing??" Ash shouted, slapping Brock's hand away. "I always knew you were a pervert to girls--I just hope this time it was a joke! I'm no girl!"

"Well, you said--"

"Kiss my butt? I didn't mean LITERALLY! I just..." Ash sighed and calmed down. "Brock, is something wrong? You haven't been yourself lately. You stopped chasing girls and stuff."

"Getting tired of being rejected," he said truthfully. "I'm turning over a new leaf."

Ash paused for a minute. "Brock--don't tell me that you're--"

"Don't say the word, Ash. That's an offensive word. It makes people think I like more than one person," Brock said.

'There's nothing life-threatening about being ga--homosexual,' Ash thought. 'But Brock told me that he would never change the way he was... What if he tries to fool me? I'm not going to fall for it if it's a joke. I'll play along, and if he really means it...maybe I'll consider...NO! I will NOT consider ANYTHING! I am Ash Ketchum, and in the future I'll have a WIFE, not a HUSBAND! But...if I turn him down...will I really be happy with--man, I think I slept too long, thinking like this. What was I saying?' Ash thought.

"What was I saying?" Ash asked.

"Um...that you were hungry," Brock lied.

"I was? Well, I am," he said.

"Breakfast will be ready in 15," Brock said, walking out of the tent.

Ash saw his sad face.

"Brock, what's wrong?" he asked, also climbing out of the tent.

"He wants you," Misty giggled.

"What do you mean by that?" Ash asked.

"You know...LOVE...you!"

"That's crazy talk! And it's just plain stupid!" Ash shouted.

"Stupid," Brock whispered, pausing to get the stuff as he sighed.

Ash's expression softened. "Misty...I think you're right..."

Misty was cracking up. "OOH, some boy likes another boy!"

"Misty," Ash warned.

"Do I see a change in the balance of Adam and Eve? Did it change to Adam and Steve? Do women have less ribs than men after all?" Misty teased, laughing.

"Misty, shut up! That is not FUNNY! Brock is really serious about this, and all you can do is LAUGH???"

"I'm sorry," she said, trying to supress a giggle. "But it's just too much!"

"Misty, if you don't shut up..." Ash started, giving her an ominous glare.

"Ooh, then what's going to happen to little ol' me?" Misty said half-heartedly and sarcastically.

"Something you won't like..." he continued, growling.

Misty noticed that his clenched fist was shaking. "Ash, I know you. You don't hit girls. You wouldn't dare--"

Misty was cut off (and cut inside the mouth) by a fist, SLAMMING directly into her jaw. She lost her wind, and fell, hard, onto the ground, landing on her back.

"Oh...oh my God...you...you hit me..." she gasped, coughing up blood.

"You're not a girl! You're just a cruel, tomboyish psycho!"

"For your information, Ash," Misty said, slowly so she wouldn't swallow any blood, "I'M not the psycho! Both of you are!"

"You can't mirror me because any time you look at your own reflection, the mirror BREAKS!" Ash shouted.

"And I thought *I* was the mean one!"

"Consider your lesson learned!" Ash shouted. He watched her get up.

"Fine! Hit me again, you b-----d!" she said, feeling tears coming to her eyes, and lost hope coming from her heart.

"No. I only hit you the first time so you can at least feel 1/100 of the pain you've caused me ever since you followed me on this journey, and complained as if it were yours," he said.

"So why don't you just hit me again? Afraid I'll hit you back with my mallet?"

"I'm not scared of that mallet, and neither are any other boys that I prevented from raping you! Oh yeah--that reminds me! I saved your life so many times! From my age of 10 up until five years later--now--I've protected you, guarding you with my life, and all you do is complain, whine, tease me and get on my back about that gosh-forsaken BIKE! What kind of a person are you? I wouldn't hit you if you could just be thankful! Never once in your life have you thanked me for ANYTHING I'VE DONE FOR YOU!! AND I'VE HAD IT UP UNTIL NOW!! Now go! Get out of my face, you bitch!"

Misty's eyes widened, and she ran away.

Ash sighed as he closed his eyes...but when he opened them, he felt something pressed against his lips...

Brock! Kissing him!
(lovely)

"Brock..." Ash said, a shocked expression on his face.

"Was...I...wrong?" Brock asked, touching his own lips and backing away.

"You know," he said, giggling half-heartedly, "for some reason, I thought I would hurt you and never speak to you again for it, but..."

"But what, Ash?"

"But I felt everything I always thought I'd feel from a girl..." he said.

"So I realize..."

Brock stood before him, trying to keep a straight face.

"I realize that I loved it," he said, smiling.

Brock smiled.

And until the sun set, they stood, holding one another, kissing to their life's content.
