Georgie

Georgie 1 month after being deck kitty  (More pics below)

This is Georgie!  She came to us as a stray!  One night we went out on our pool deck to watch lightning.  About 10 minutes later we heard these meows coming from under the deck.  She was definitely scared.  It took about 15-20 minutes to get her to come out!  To us, it just seemed really funny, not that she was a stray, but that a stray cat would pick a house with three dogs outside.  Anyway, she was entirely too skinny to be healthy.  We did feed her and gave her fresh water.  She disappeared for the night, but was back the next morning.  This went on for a week.  Then my husband decided to feed her steak off the grill.  Well, kitty was going nowhere after that.  So we made the vet appt and got her tested and shots, the work up.  I brought her home and put her on the deck.  She was so mad at me, she disappeared for a day.  Well, she in turn got healthy and was our deck cat.  She was more than content to stay on the deck.  I took her to get spayed, only to find out that she had already been spayed.  Needless to say she disappeared for a day over that one too.  I built her a five ft tall kitty condo and she called our deck home for the summer.  When it turned chilly, I felt horrible for her.  I couldn't leave her outside and I was afraid to bring her in, due to having the Mals in the house.  (They hate cats by the way!)

Well, Mals are pack oriented right?  I came up with an idea.  (Imagine that!)

I brought the kitty condo and everything inside and put it upstairs in our spare room.  I then put a gate at the bottom of the stairs.  The cat could have the upstairs and the dogs could have the downstairs.  Well, as it turns out Georgie is not afraid of dogs and would sit on the stairs to incorporate herself with the dogs.  So I knew, inevitably, Georgie was going to come down the stairs.  I took her and got down on my hands and knees, putting the cat underneath me to protect her and stared the dogs down challenging them..."I'm the alpha and this is mine!"  Of course Dakata challenged, but eventually gave up.  Georgie walked into the kitchen and we have an occasional chase the kitty contest, but all-in-all the cat rules the house.

The once stray cat....now has...her own room, her own full size bed, a kitty condo, tons of toys, a play tent with tunnels, two kids that adore her, three dogs to make fools of, two beta fish to scare the life out of and two humans that jump to her every meow.

SHE DESERVES IT!
