Liza Jane - The Cosmic CowGirl
Liza Jane Likins is of Mexican, Irish and Cherokee descent,  from a small town on the California Gold Coast. "San Luis Obispo, where I  was raised, definitely formed my country roots. It's a little hillbilly town 90  miles west of Bakersfield, full of pea-pickers and guitar-pickers. My father had a  band called "Lefty and the Corvettes." Even though he wasn't around when I  started playin', I play left-handed, too."

Liza Jane was strongly  influenced by her mother's collection of favorite recordings by Brenda Lee,  Patsy Cline and Patti Page. She started singing in public at age five and performed  anytime and anywhere she could. "I knew when I was five I was gonna be a  singer."
Liza Jane sang background vocals for Linda Rondstadt for five  years. With Linda, she performed on the Johnny Carson Show, the Grammy Awards, HBO  specials and numerous music videos. She also worked with Emmylou Harris, Dolly  Parton and Linda on the Award-winning "Trio" album. In fact, Liza Jane's  first performance in Nashville was on the Grand Ole Opry singing backgrounds for  Miss Rondstadt. It was there she met Ricky Skaggs and learned "Talk About  Sufferin'" which she performs a cappella in her show.
Liza Jane spent '92 with  country great, Clint Black on "The Hard Way" tour doing background vocals and  percussion. "Singing with Clint was a dream come true" He said I could twang with  the best of them!" With Clint, she performed on Arsenio Hall, David Letterman, Jay  Leno, the Bob Hope Christmas Special and TNN's Nashville Now.
She moved to  Nashville in '96 on George Strait's advice after he heard her sing at the  Kentucky Derby. And she has been writing with some of Music's City's finest writers,  such as Rafe Van Hoy and Paul Craft. After her first solo performance in  Nashville, she was tagged a female Marty Stuart for her showmanship, musical roots and  colorful stage clothes.
Liza Jane's brand of music is  traditional country harmonies with a rockin' influence known as the Bakersfield sound.  Listen to her songs and hear the echoes of country greats from the past in her  powerful voice.
