ASQUITH-James Asquith was born in Lancashire, England in 1821.  His first wife was named Sophia Walker.  His second wife was named Mary Walsh.  He had nine children with Sophia.  Their names were David, James, Samuel, John, Amelia and Mary Jane.  I do not know the names of the remaining two children, just that they exsisted.  He came to America in 1880 with at least one of his children, my great-great grandmother, Amelia, and her husband, John Wilkinson.  They settled in the Lonsdale, Rhode Island area where James died in 1912 and is buried with his second wife.

BARTLETT-Caleb Bartlett went to New Brunswick, Canada in 1808 with his two sons, Leonard and Caleb, and his daughter Susanna.  Both Leonard and Caleb, Jr. are my ancestral lines.  These three were the progenitors of a great majority of the Bartletts that lived in Charlotte County, as many of this name married their cousins.  They are all descended from Jonathan Bartlett (a great mystery in my research) and his wife, Lydia Chase of Plaistow, New Hampshire.

BEERS-My ninth great grandmother was Sarah Beers who married Issac Strearns in 1660 in Watertown, Massachusetts.  She was the daughter of Richard Beers and Elizabeth Firmin.  I would like to know more about Richard and Elizabeth.

CHASE-My Chase ancestry goes back to Aquila Chase and Anne Wheeler of Chesam, England who settled in Newbury, Massachusetts.  I am descended from two of their children; Priscilla who married Abel Merrill and John who married Lydia Challis. Their granddaughter, Lydia, married Jonathan Bartlett. [See BARTLETT above.]

COLBURN-Nathaniel Colburn and Priscilla Clarke (daughter of Rowland Clarke and Mary Hobart of Dedham, MA) were the parents of eleven children.  My ancestor is Sarah who married William Partridge in Medfield, Massachusetts in 1656.

CONNICK-I have three individuals named Connick in my family file all of which lived in New Brunswick, Canada but none of which I can connect to each other.  My third great grandmother was Ann C. Connick.  She married Amos Hitchings Bartlett in 1861 and died seven years later.  The other individuals in my file are named Grace and John and both married Bartletts.

*If you are researching CONNICKS, take a look at my friend Tim's Connick site

COOPER-Peter and Emm Cooper came to America on the "Susan & Ellen" in 1635.  Their son, Samuel married Mary Harriman in Rowley, Massachusetts in 1691.  My line continues through Molly Cooper who married Caleb Bartlett.  [See BARTLETT above.]

CURTIS-I am descended from Zacheus Curtis and his wife, Joanna Cooper.  They resided in Topsfield, Massachusetts and they had seven children.  Their second son, John, married Mary Looke.

DICKINSON-Sarah Dickinson married Jeremiah Jewett in Rowley, Massachusetts in 1660/61.  Her parents were named Thomas and Janet.  I would be very interested in finding out more about them.

FURBER-The Furber family settled in Dover, New Hampshire beginning with William and his first wife Esther Starbuck.  This family is a tangled web of marriages between the Nute and Nutter families.

GREENLAW-I have three individuals by the name of Greenlaw in my family file.  I have no idea if they are related to each other in any way.  Ann Greenlaw was married to William Little.  Their daughter, Susannah was married to John Jewett Bartlett in New Brunswick, Canada in 1843.  Also in New Brunswick, I have a Eunice Greenlaw married in 1802 to Aaron Linton.  Around the same time I have an Isaac Greenlaw married to Mary Bartlett.

HALE-Thomas Hale and his wife, Thomasine Dowsett, came from Watton, England to Newbury, Massachusetts.  Their son, Thomas, married Mary Hutchinson in Salem, Massachusetts in 1657.  Their daughter, Lydia, married James Platts of Rowley.

HAY-Margaret Jane (Jennie) Hay was married to Allen Elwood Bartlett in 1886 in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada.  She was born in 1867 in Harvey Station, NB.  I am on the trail of her father perhaps being John Hay, son of Scottish immigrant Alexander Hay.  I would appreciate any help on this line that I can find!

HAYNES-Hiram Haynes was the son of Edward and Ann Haynes.  He was one of seven children raised in Rutland County (?), Vermont.  He married Mariett Wheeler before 1856 and died in Rutland, Vermont in 1867.  I know very little about his ancestry, but I have many pictures of his sisters and brothers.

HUTCHINSON-Richard Hutchinson was married to Alice Bosworth and had eight children, all except one of which were born in North Muskham, England.  Their daughter, Mary, was married to Thomas Hale, Jr. in Salem, Massachusetts in 1657.

JEWETT-Edward Jewett and Mary Taylor had four children that I am sure of.  In 1638 their son, Joseph, and his wife, Mary Mallinson came to America on the "John" and settled in Rowley, Massachusetts.  My long line of Jewetts are those that were the prominent citzens in the town of Rowley for many generations.  My line with them ends with Anna, who married Leonard Bartlett in 1800 and relocated to New Brunswick, Canada.  I have a great deal of information on this family.

JOHNSON-In 1893, Gustaf Johanson came from Sweden on the USS Alaska to NYC then to Providence, Rhode Island.  His wife, Allette Berntsen, and their five young children followed six months later.  The family lived in Cranston, RI and had six more children.  I would like to connect with the descendants of his family.

JOHNSON-John Johnson and Eleanor Brackett were married in 1661 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and had five children.  Their daughter, Rosamund, was married to John Nutter and resided at Newington, New Hampshire.

KNIGHT- John H. Knight was born November 18, 1833.  His parents were John H. Knight (born 1807 and died1834) and Laura Brooks.  His mother died in 1843, leaving him an orphan at the age of ten.  John had an unknown wife and a son born February 14, 1856 in Claremont, New Hampshire.  At some point it is believed that they divorced and the baby was given up for adoption.  The baby was adopted by Willis Morse and Hannah Sanborn of Vermont and named George Willis Morse.  John H. Knight was a prisoner of war at Andersonville Prison during the Civil War.  He survived and started a new life in Central, New York State (Possibly the Syracuse area.)  Again he married (again unknown to me what her name was) and had a second child,   Florence Anna, probably born in the early 1860's.  I would dearly love to correspond with someone researching her tree as I believe that they would know more about him than myself.

LILJA/LILLEY-Sven Johan Lilja and Josephine Svea Andersen immigrated from Sweden and resided in Mineville, New York.  He was a coal miner and they had eight children; Carl, Hedrig, Walberg, Esther, George, Vendela, Svea and Bertha.  The family moved to Auburn, Rhode Island where Sven died in 1930 and Josephine in 1928.  Their daughter Svea was my great grandmother and married Carl Gustaf Johanson.

LITTLE-William Little was married to Ann Greenlaw and they lived in St. Andrews, New Brunswick.  Their daughter, Susannah married John Jewett Bartlett in 1843.  I would like to learn more about both the Littles and the Greenlaws.

LITTLEFIELD-I have two branches named Littlefield that I can't seem to connect. Elizabeth Littlefield married William Wakefield about 1646 and resided in Biddeford, Maine.  Their son, William, married Rebecca Littlefield, daughter of Thomas, in 1698/99 in Salem, Massachusetts (Although William died in Wells, ME).  I know these are well-documented families, but I can't seem to connect the two.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

LOOKE- Mary Looke was married in 1672 to John Curtis in Topsfield, Massachusetts.  She was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Looke of Lynn, MA.  I would like to hear from other researchers studying the Looke name.

MARSH-Joseph Marsh and Ann Thurgood were married in Boston, Massachusetts in 1691/92.  Their son Joseph married Sarah Partridge in 1716/17, also in Boston.  Joseph and Sarah had six children, including Eli born in Douglas.  Eli married Mary Puffer in 1751 in Wrentham.  I am descended from their daughter, Eunice who married David Wheeler and raised a family in Sutton, MA.

MERRILL-My Merrill tree goes back to John (The Younger) and his wife Prudence Bird of Wherstead, Suffolk, England.  This is a well documented family and my line is Nathaniel and Mary Blacksoll, Nathaniel (one of the original proprietors of Newbury, Massachusetts) and Susannah and Abel and his wife Priscilla Chase.  Their daughter, Susannah, married Benhamin Morse in 1691/92 in Newbury.

NEWELL-Abraham and Frances Newell came to Roxbury, Massachusetts in 1634 on the "Francis". (On which trip their son Jacob was born!)  Their fifth child, Issac, married Elizabeth Curtis in 1659.  Issac and Elizabeth's daughter, Sarah, married Nathaniel Hawes in 1688.

NUTE-James Nute and Elizabeth Heard were married before 1675 and had a daughter named Leah.  Leah married Jethro Furber and their daughter, Hannah, married Mathias Nutter in Newington, New Hampshire.  (Leah married Mathias' uncle second and Hannah was raised by him.)

WADDICOR-An internet search for the name Waddicor turns up a mere 13 in the United States, 1 in Canada, 1 in Australia, 3 in New Zealand and 44 in the United Kingdom!  We are a very small family!  I have corresponded with one other researcher in the United States.  I have information for my tree back to 1761 in Darwen, Lancashire, England (Which is where the family remained until my grandfather came to Rhode Island in the early 1920's.) and have been gathering every bit of WADDICOR information that I can!  I would like to start a Waddicor database so that we can begin to connect the few of us that there are!  You may download my GEDCOM at My Family Tree Maker website.  Click here to see my WADDICOR HomepageIf you are a Waddicor or are researching any variation of the name, anywhere in the world, PLEASE contact me at [email protected]

WHEELER-I am descended from Sargent Thomas Wheeler and his wife Sarah Meriam, original settlers of Concord, Massachusetts.  My line goes John, Jonathan, Abel, David, David and ending with Mariett Wheeler who married Hiram Haynes and lived in Rutland, Vermont. I am also a descendant of Anne Wheeler who married Aquila Chase in Newbury, Massachusetts in 1641.  I know her father was John Wheeler of Newbury, MA, but could use some help on that line.
