ROM2 FACTS

Rom2 or Rage of Mages II, Allods II is almost exactly like Rom1. It can be an exciting single game or multiplayer like Rom1. Some changes were made in the coding of the Character Files (Now called .A2C) formerly known as game 00XX.chr files. The new A2C are encoded and scrambled data. This makes Hacking or Hex Editing impossible. However that should not stop you from examining other files namely world.res and Rom2.exe. Much can be done to these files to make the chrs more powerful. Before you get carried away I have to tell you that Monolith aka Lith runs a Master Server. 99% of the Rom2 players are on the Lith Master Hat Server. I was Never in favor of this type of "Big Brother" over your shoulder kind of operation. I am guessing that the folks at Nival who made the game wanted to have a "controlled" gaming envirnoment. This was to keep out Pkers (player killers) and those that like to modify there chrs.



The "good news" is that with the Hat comes a SERVER PATCH and you have to down load it on http://www.lith.com/rom2 and look for the Multiplayer tab and click on it. Down load the patch and the readme2.txt. After installing the CD version apply the Server Patch by clicking on the ziped file and it will install itself. Did I say GOOD NEWS? Perhaps I am a trifle over enthusatic. Ok you have to start a new chr. On the first screen fill in the Lith ISP # 207.195.149.19 and the other data as you did when you registered your Lith account. That is account name and password. Click ok. Your should see a list of Lith Hat Server. Select one and enter. Easy level is like level 1 in Rom1. Start in Kids3 or Nival. Kill the squirrels and ghosts or the Goblins and build up your strength etc. Some suggestion: Don't hang around the entry place or drop zone. This is where 99% of the Pkers wait to Kill New Players. If you get Killed don't hit the space bar to recover right away as you could be Pked again. Wait a few seconds. If they Pk takes your bag you can ask polietly for it back. Player Killers are not looked upon by many as kewl. If it happens to you as it might take it in stride. Create more characters.

If you intend to really play Rom2 to a high level make friends with the experienced players. Members of the Clan GreenGuardians (GG) and the KoD or the Force can help you. I am Clan Leader of the GG (GreenGuardians), and we do help new players. Look for us and the KoD where the Clan names are.

Another thing is as you advance the monsters get tuffer. Sooner or later you will be offered "hacked: armor or items. Don't accept them even if from a friend. The wonderful Folks at Lith are randomly looking at chrs. Nice huh! "Big Brother" again. If they see a suspecious item they can open your chr file and look under the armor. Mages can't hide items as all is visible. Warriors can have mail shirts and these are where alot of hacks are. I had some of my best chrs deleted because they had modified armor. Some was a gift from a friend and some I made myself. Tisk Tisk on me. More on this in a bit. Ok you need to hang out with the better players and if your kewl they will give you things, like better armor. You will likely participate in getting more "Quest Armor" from the Quest Map. These are powerful items that allow your chr to reach 12K Health and more. I had one chr with 21K health and because his shirt was not kosher old BC (Ben Chamberlain) deleted him. Oh sadness. I didn't think he would really treat me that way as I have been an avid Rom1 and now Rom2 player. Well Ben is very tuff and perhaps a bit too tuff. I wonder if he really like his job or not. I try to put myself in his shoes. No he does not have an Easy job. Still he does not have to be a prick about it. If I were he I would at least warn the offending owner of the chr's modified item. I would allow him a few days to get rid of the items. I might even give him a second warning. Here is the problem and why "hacked" items are so coveted. First off playing on the Horror maps is tuff but you can survive drinking pots of health and running alot. Be sure you have high Earth protection as many monsters have Stone Curse. These items make you powerful and the monsters don't kill you so easily. Quest Items are very Hard to get. They come at sometimes a high cost of dying many times. Mostly you will need the help of very advanced players. I have had to rebuild all my top chrs. I hate to say this, but Ben and Bob likely don't Play Rom2 Quest Maps. I don't believe they understand how F*ckin difficult it is to get these items that are 100% legal. That is were those that can modify or make with the map edior items that are not legit. Back in the Rom1 days there were some players with 30K health and 20K attack and defense. It is possible to make chrs with almost the same spects. Off the Hat I have a chr with these kinds of values. I have beaten every map Lith has including the dreaded Astral Quest Map. OK, however Lith does not want a bunch of hacked players running around misbehaving. This is one reason they are so hard on hacks and players that use them. I suggest as one who is reformed don't use them. It is hard to resist temptation. Don't give in.

Ok you say how can I beat the Quest Maps. I say to you work with others as a team. For example the level 5 spiders are 12K health and bite for 1000 damage a sec or faster. They can reduce a 30K chr to zero in less than a minute. Use stone cursed weapons. If the damn spider is stoned he can't hurt you. Ok wht about a group of them. Ok use some logic. Scroll of magic can be used by any chr. Use them!!! Fire Wall and Stone Wall are very effective in dealing with large groups of spiders. You need to find the right place to make a stone wall. Let the spiders try to attack you. They can't climb over the wall. You can then fire wall them and shoot them with a bow or crossbow. Fire kills them fast. Repeat as necessary. If you screw up they can kill you so have some teleport scrolls handy. You then can teleport away. This is how I beat the Astral Quest Off the Hat and likely How I will beat it on the Hat.

Now you know my secrets of playing the Quest Maps. Each map has a unique set up and you need a solution for each monster group. I once beat several level 5 spiders by teleporting back and forth shooting then with a fire ball bow. Yes the one from the Rodion Quest. I was able to do this with my warrior like a mage. LOL some act eh? There are lots more things about Rom2 I could say. I think you have enough now to go play and make friends and succeed at Rom2. Rom2 is a great game, but not for everyone. I think its easier that Star Craft or Baulders Gate. You will have to decide.
