This page is dedicated the Cosentino Family, specifically, the descendants of Salvatore and Nuziatta (Sam and Nancy)Cosentino who came from Sicily to the United States at the beginning of the 20th century. This site will grow to include a family tree, as we, the grandchildren and great-grandchildren strive to put a family history together for those who come after us. A family reunion is planned for July 4-6, 2003, in Omaha, Nebraska. Details will be posted as plans are finialized. So, bookmark this page and check it often. Some family members are still being sought. If you believe you are a direct descedant and have not been contacted, please email us. Currently we are seeking information on the following individuals. Location of these family members, while believed to be accurate, in some cases are very dated. Parens are used to indicate maiden name. I am happy to report that after a couple of false starts, we located the whereabouts of the last two members of the 3rd generation of the family (grandchildren). I had the opportunity to speak with Nancy (Sapienza) Campisi and she brought me up-to-date on her branch of the family. Sadly, Nancy reported her brother, Tony, passed away very suddenly in 2000.
If you have information or questions, please contact us via email.
The family tree on this site has fallen woefully out-of-date as we continue seeking information to complete it in time for displaying at the family reunion. We have been most fortunate through Genelogy.com to have come in contact with a very nice lady named Karen who has a wealth of information regarding vital statistics for the state of California. She has collected a good deal of date information for us and helped update and correct the family tree on which we are working on another site. Also, through the kindness of folks at Geneology.com, we have been put in touch with a local expert who happens to have known a good number of our family members and will be trying to assist us with gathering more information on dates for family here.
In April, we will begin work on the family reunion keepsake book. We need family photos. Please contact Jo Gaver with any photos you can provide. Originals will be returned. Any questions, please email us.
The family tree page still lacks a lot of information which we hope family members will be able to provide. If you are interested in assiting with the research, please email us for additional information. To check out the Family Tree Page and to see what we need right now, please click on the What We Need link below. It will provide additional information and link you directly to the Family Tree Page. Suggestion has been made that we start a private on-line group where we can post private family messages and updates, out of the eye of the general public. What do you think? We can start a group very easily if there are enough folks interested. This might be a good way to "get together" with those who won't be able to attend the family reunion, or even those who will. Please let me know what you think. Yes, No, Haven't a Clue...whatever. We hope to see all of you over the 4th of July weekend next year in Omaha. It is time for our family to come together to say "hello" instead of "good-bye". Our ancesters left us a rich heritage and we are obliged to enrich it for our children and their children. Won't you join us?
I am excited. This a day when the nation pauses to remember those who have gone before us, and today, I found one of our own who was thought lost in the vast land beyond. If any of you are like me and really get a high from the geneological searches, you will be able to identify with my find. I'd always known my Dad was named after an uncle he never knew. The story was that his Uncle Dominic had died in a racing accident in Illinois and that he had been buried somewhere near Chicago. Well, that might have been true at one time, but today I found that he is buried right here in Omaha just about 100 ft. from his parents' grave. I wish Dad were here to share the find with me. But I will share it with all you when we get together next summer. I hope by then I will have made other significant finds that will help us build a record of our family history.
I knew there was a good reason to ask everyone to check out the family tree, thanks to Penny Hansen who noted a huge boo-boo (or one of them, I'm sure there are lots more) and brought it to my attention. It has been corrected. Who wants to find the next one? An update letter is going to go out just to those who have returned the forms in February with final information on activities and locations with some of the costs involved. So far we have family members indicating they plan to come from California, Virginia, Texas, Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska.
A good deal of progress has been made on the Family Tree and because the information still missing is something we all should share, in hopes of "filling in the blanks", it is back in public view. I still am not real happy with the foremat, but for our purposes right now, it works.
Thanks to both Penny Hansen and Deanne Garner for catching boo-boo's and to Jo Gaver, Nancy Harkins, Penny Hansen, Deanna Garner, Mary Jo Montgomery and Fr. Ron Gilardi for their assistance in gathering information and helping us locate additional family members.
Thanks to Penny Hansen, also for for providing us with a great photo which we plan to use for the cover of the reunion booklet and to Jo Gaver and Nancy Harkins for their assistance and countless hours of going over and over the information with me.
