Slumber
I sleep in which to escape
My mind you seem to want to rape
To take all from me
Be all you expect me to be
To be numb from the hurt
I can dream away no longer alert
It is a quiet slumber
Your expectations no longer encumber
I can fly in my dreams
Do all that I please
To be me once again
To lay peaceful as though slain
When I lie here thus
No longer do I feel the verbal thrusts
It is my serenity I find
And some quiet peace of mind
Please don't wake me yet
I want to be still and forget
Slumber is all that I ask
To release me from my past
