Finding the Sun
She comes up behind him to just be near
The need to touch and be touched
His mind seems so far away
And the response as distant as his thoughts
She holds him close needing the comfort
He smiles down then gently moves away
What has she done that causes this space
Where is the love that once showed upon his face
Did she not stand by him when times were hell
Did she not go to him as if answering a servant's bell
Did she not show him enough physical love
Does he want another to give him enough
Is it her or is it him
Who is the one that is ending this
And who is the one that will miss the time
She stoicly readies herself for a new unknown
Does she trust her heart enough to set off anew
Does she have the faith in herself she once held for him
Her hand slips from her finger that once meant so much
A tear forms in the rim of her eye
More from fear than sadness inside
Her hand slowly grasps the knob
And steps into the sun
Letting its light guide her forth
Letting it warm her the way he once did
Embracing her place in the sun
Her new journey hath begun
