Authors Notes: I really enjoyed writing this story (I can?t believe I finished it!) so I think I might write a sequel.

~ Epilogue ~

The young girl stared out the window at the world she no longer belonged to. Outside everything was sunny and bright but inside everything was dark and cold. She sat alone in her room wondering if there was any hope that she might someday be released. ?Not likely? the judge had said. She had attempted murder therefore she would be punished. Forget the fact that the girl she hurt deserved to be dead or worse, but instead she got to walk around free. ?Your lucky? her lawyer had told her ?you could be in jail.? He didn?t understand that this was worse, being locked up in this place with a bunch of crazies. She wasn?t crazy couldn?t they see that. She was in love that?s all. What?s the crime in that?

Sebastian. She thought of him often. She knew one day they would be together again. He would look at her and tell her that he loved her and that he is sorry for taking that tramps word over hers. One day he would realize his mistake and he would come to get her. Everyday she hoped to see him, but so far he never came.

Her thoughts were interrupted when a nurse came into her room. ?Annette, someone?s here to see you.?

Sebastian! He finally came she knew it. Annette smiled and followed the nurse out of the room. They went into the larger activity room where the patients were allowed to go and visitors often went to see them. Annette scanned the room for him but didn?t see him or anyone else she knew. Then she heard her ?Hello Annette.?

That voice. Annette spun around and was face to face with the one person on earth she truly hated. Kathryn Merteuil stood in front of her wearing the same smile she wore when they first met. She was dressed in a beautiful dress that probably cost more than anything Annette ever owned. She was still the same beautiful girl she remembered and hated. What on earth was she doing her Annette thought? It had been almost two years since that night she shot her. She hadn?t been at the trail and she never made any attempt to contact her, so what did she want?

?You let me know if you need anything,? the nurse said to Kathryn. She probably saw the fancy dress and knew Kathryn was important.

?Thank you? Kathryn replied sweetly.

?Kathryn, what are you doing here?? Annette finally asked.

Kathryn took a seat and Annette sat down across from her ?Annette I wanted to set things right.?

?Set things right??

?Yes, I want to move on with my life and that includes forgiving you.?

Annette realized Kathryn was using that tone she used when she was conning people, that sickly sweet voice. Annette knew Kathryn didn?t want to set things right, she was up to something. ?Your forgiving me for what I?ve done??

?Yes, I?m trying to be a better person. My mother died a couple of months ago and it really made me see what?s important in life. I can?t be angry at you any longer, after all I really have nothing to be angry about.?

?Oh? Annette said playing along.

?My life is so great now. I?m going to Columbia and I just bought this great new house. And there?s something else. You?ll never guess!? Kathryn said enthusiastically as if they were best friends.

?What??

Kathryn held up her hand ?I?m engaged!?

Annette studied the beautiful ring of her finger. It was the kind of ring every girl dreamed of. A sick feeling began to rise in Annette. ?Kathryn, who are you marrying??

The chipper smile Kathryn was wearing slowly disappeared and was replaced by an evil one. ?Sebastian? she replied menacingly.

?No!? Annette screamed

Kathryn just nodded her head and smiled ?Yes, isn?t it great! He asked me the other day, said he couldn?t go another day without making me his wife.?

?No, you?re lying! He doesn?t love you. He loves me! He loves me!? Annette stood up and began to scream. The nurses ran over immediately and tried to calm her down. Kathryn pretended to look startled.

?Calm down Annette? they ordered but she wouldn?t listen. She was lying, she was lying didn?t they know that?

?I?m so sorry. I didn?t mean to upset the poor girl.? Kathryn?s said sweetly.

?That?s alright she probably didn?t take her medicine.?

As the nurses struggled to control Annette she stared at Kathryn who was smiling mockingly back at her. She mouthed ?bye, bye? and then slipped on her sunglasses and left.

The nurses called to an orderly who took Annette back to her room. Her privileges would be revoked for the next week, they told her but she didn?t care. She went back to her place by the window and looked out. Outside she saw a familiar car.

                                                *                *                *                *                *                *

Kathryn laughed as the fresh air hit her face. That had gone even better then she planned. The look on Annette?s face when she told her the news had been priceless. She walked down the steps of St. Mary?s hospital, to the waiting jaguar. Sebastian stood in front of it dressed in a suit and sunglasses. He smiled as she approached. ?Well how?d it go??

Kathryn laughed, ?the bitch completely lost it. You should have seen her face when I showed her the ring.?

Sebastian shook his head and wrapped his arms around his fianc ?you truly are an evil women.?

?That?s why you love me.?

?Sadly yes? he laughed. ?So are you ready to get married??

She smiled up at him ?yes.?

?Are you sure you want to elope??

?God yes. Getting married in front of all my darling society friends isn?t exactly my idea of fun.?

?Ok then let?s go?

?Can I drive?? Kathryn asked

?No way? he opened the door and let her in.

?Fine? she pouted ?but I get to decide where we get married.?

?Alright? he replied as he climbed in the car and started the engine. ?How about Vegas??

?No way?

?Why not??

?It?s tacky. Try again.?

He smiled at her ?How about some place warm? Just you, me and the beach?

?Now you?re talking. Lets go.?
