| Ice Cream Block Hit Block Kick Duck Hit Duck Kick Buffy continued her assault on the vampire as she finally knocked him out on his ass, making him fall on the dewy green grass of the graveyard she?s been patrolling for a few weeks with Giles. With a smile of triumph, she straddled him and shoved the stake home, turning the unlucky demon into dust a few seconds later. She jumped up and looked at her Watcher brightly. "Yay on me! A month of intense training and listening to you scold and lecture me, and I?m down with dusting three vampires a night!" she said excitedly. Giles took off his glasses and pinched the bridge of his nose. This girl was definitely different from what he pictured and hoped her to be. Instead of being serious and still keeping her senses up, she was celebrating over a simple victory. But he couldn?t help but smile at her flippant and bubbly attitude about it. He had watched her change dramatically during that month. She had gone from a normal naive teenage girl to an unusual superhuman hero. And since he was her Watcher, he watched . . . and noticed the sadness that always crept up to her face at times when she took a break when they trained together. He knew it was hard for her to go to school, have friends, put up a facade that all was typical in her world, and that she was just NORMAL Buffy, but then suddenly change into a superhero at night while she still tried to balance her secret life with her more realistic one. It was a full responsibility that not a lot of girls her age could take on. But Giles was only happy and proud to see his ward surviving. It will get better in time. At least that?s what he kept repeating to himself. "Very good," he said, "Amm . . . we?ll call that a night," "Oh, come on, Giles. The night?s still young. How about we go look for one more then you can treat me to an ice-cream cone," she said happily before she turned and sprinted off to find more demons. Giles frowned and looked at his watch. "Where are we going to find an ice-cream shop at ten in the evening?" he muttered as he followed her further down in the cemetery. Buffy?s ears perked up when she heard a twig snap and she spun around only to catch Giles walking towards her while cleaning his glasses with much concentration. He cleaned them more than he made tea. She sighed and continued to focus on her surroundings, her mind alert just as Giles taught her. This wasn?t what she would call a life, but it was always cool to know that she had these sharp senses that could truly be put into good use. To save the world and listen to the guys in the very back of her class talk about how nice her legs were. But it still saddened her that this was what her life turned out to be. That fate had chosen HER for this. It made her feel unique, yet it angered her as well. Who were they to decide her destiny? She had always believed it was her choice, her life. But then she learned that she was part of a greater thing. A Slayer. Buffy couldn?t deny the fact that she was frightened, completely and utterly terrified of the future and what it held. She was risking her life for the world who would never know who she was. What?s her payment for that? Death? If she could, she would turn it down in an instance. Write ?Return to Sender? in the front, place it in the mailbox, and trudge off happily. But sadly, she couldn?t. She knew she was important in the balance between good and evil. That was the first lesson Giles taught her. That she had to accept who and what she was if she was to survive. And she wanted to survive. But all she could do now was to embrace what the higher beings have chosen for her to do. Although death was in reach every night she went out to practice and kill vampires, she kept everything on a light note. Mostly by teasing Giles about how uptight he was and making fun of vampires with horrible fashion sense. Maybe she was being dense, turning into her sister, but for now . . . that was her only escape. Just then, a vampire made its presence known as it jumped in front of Buffy, growling as its yellow eyes glowed. Buffy went into Slayer mode and began to fight as Giles watched in the background, keeping a lookout for other vampires. Only he didn?t know that there was one particular one that was hidden among the trees, keeping quiet as he watched the petite blond fight viciously against the doomed vampire. He couldn?t understand how such a small girl could hold so much power. But then he had always known that since he had first laid eyes on her. She was different from the other Slayers he had run into in the past. He knew that she would defeat all, that she was out of the ordinary. And he would be there to help her top it all. He would be there by her side to fight it all. That was his promise to himself, and to her . . . even if she didn?t know it. He watched with amusement as she dusted the vampire and started prancing about, giving yet another perky dance for another conquest. "So what about it, Giles? Ice-cream cone? Please?" she begged her Watcher with pleading eyes. He watched as the older man roll his eyes. "Good, God, Buffy. You?re not ten any longer," he said, "Come. I?ll take you home." Buffy pouted, her bottom lip quivering. Angel?s lips quirked up into a smile. She always had the tendency to do that to him. To make him smile without him even knowing it. It made his heart overflow with warmth . . . and for a moment, he liked to pretend the it was able to beat just like hers. Buffy continued to pout as Giles stared at her, arms crossed without a smile. Her chin shuddered and Giles clenched his fist. "Fine!" he yelled, throwing his arms in the air defeatedly, "Get in the car." Buffy smirked. "Score!" she said happily, "I want a banana split!" "You said ice-cream cone. Nothing about sundaes," Giles muttered. "Yeah . . . but ice-cream?s all the same. Cone, non-cone, styro-foam bowls . . . " she whined as the two marched towards Gile?s car. |
| Fly Away Friday and Saturday nights were Buffy?s early nights off from her patrols with Giles. After complaining to him that her friends would start getting even more suspicious than they already were and that she was barely around any longer, they would start worrying which would lead to them finding about her top secret identity and she knew he wouldn?t want that. So Giles hesitantly grumbled his consent and she rejoiced in another triumph over her aged Watcher. She would never admit it, at least not now anyways, but Giles had become, not only a mentor, but a friend . . . and a father figure. He spoiled her in a Slayer sort of sense. Giving her breaks, letting her talk on the his phone while he tended to the customers of the Magik Box, and of course, buying her food. Lots of it. She wasn?t very close to her biological father . . . and she wont even get into her stepfather. So Giles had become as close to a real father as any of them ever had. Even if it was only for a short few months. "Buffy." She looked up and met with Spike?s brilliant blue orbs. As usual, he was his handsome self in a gray blue sweater that showed off his hard earned muscles and casual black pants with black shoes. His peroxide blond hair was spiked and tousled, making him look more sensual than his usual sleeked back hair-style that he typically had when they were at school. "Hey, what are you doing here?" she asked him cheerily as he sat down next to her at the empty table. Willow and Xander decided to have one dance together and was off on the dance floor. "Well," he began, "I noticed you were all by your lonesome and told myself that maybe you could use some company." *Fly Away* ~Lenny Kravitz~ // I wish that I could fly Into the sky So very high Just like a dragonfly // Buffy smiled. Her really was a flirt. Almost as worse as Sebastian. ALMOST. "Well, thank you. I appreciate it." "You?re welcome," he said sincerely and added, "How about a dance?" "I don?t know . . . " she said reluctantly. She had danced with Spike before. Actually, one would find it MATING instead of dancing. "Come on," he insisted, "You, me, the whole gang. Big circle." // I?d fly above the trees Over the seas in all degrees To anywhere I please // She looked at the dance floor where she saw Willow, Xander, Cordelia, Gunn, Sebastian, Anya, Oz, and even Katheryn dancing in a circle as they cheered each other on when a pair of them trudged to the middle doing a little move with their partner. She smiled and grabbed Spike?s offered hand as he led her to where the others were. She danced by her sister?s side who was laughing joyfully along with her. "Let?s go, Buffy! You and Sebastian!" Katheryn winked. // Oh, I want to get away I want to fly away Yeah, yeah, yeah // Buffy looked at her stepbrother who was already stalking towards the middle of their tight knit circle made up of their friends. The hottie of the school was dressed in black slacks and a white buttoned up shirt. She smirked and followed him as her friends hollered. She noticed that half of the club had already stopped what they were doing to watch them. It was known all over school that Sebastian Valmont Jr. wanted his golden stepsister who wouldn?t give him the time of day for anything. They knew of his struggle as well as his utter determination to get into bed with her. And all knew of his resolve that he wasn?t going to stop until he got laid with her. // Oh, I want to get away I want to fly away Yeah, yeah, yeah // He grabbed her waist and pulled her against him, grinding their lower hips together like an intricate dance of the cobras back in India. He stared down at her with flaming blue eyes that screamed with so much ferocity that she was afraid he would rip off her clothes at any moment and just have sex with her right there on the middle of the floor. Sebastian on the other hand was enjoying the shocked look she wore on her pretty face as he continued to gyrate his hips against hers. He liked it when she was all wide eyed and open mouthed. She looked so damn sexy. And sometimes, he?d imagine that her stunned expression would be the one she would display after the great sex they would have. And soon enough, it would come true. // Let?s go and see the stars The milky way, or even mars Where it could be just ours // Angel, who hid in the corner, watched the performance between Buffy and Sebastian with a heated glare. He shouldn?t feel so jealous, after all, he didn?t own her. She barely knew HE existed. Yet . . . it still hurt . . . to know that she wouldn?t be able to get close to him enough to feel the same he did about her. Since the day he saw Buffy, he had grown a possessive behavior whenever it came to her. And he couldn?t get rid of it. He let out a breath . . . he was hopelessly in love. He didn?t know whether he should feel sad or feel happy for himself. Because either way, it didn?t make a difference. He wasn?t going to get the girl anyways. // Let?s fade into the sun Let your spirit fly Where we are one Just for a little fun Oh, oh, oh, yeah! // Angel?s sensitive vampiric ears picked up on the scream that was hidden well beneath the blaring music of Lenny Kravitz. He looked around the Crest, hoping to catch the scuffle that caused it, his predatory skills already on alert. But then his mahogany orbs caught Buffy who also picked up on the shriek of a helpless female. He watched as she smiled up at her step brother, and then excusing herself to find out the trouble. Angel couldn?t help but grin smugly when Sebastian gazed confusingly at her as she walked away towards the bathroom. Another shout that would not be able to be picked up by a human suddenly rang once again through the club. With one more look at the upset-looking Sebastian, he stalked off to search for the unaided cry. More to Come . . . |
