Dear Sir
Enclosed with this, I send you
the declaration of Elizabeth Mursh,
widow of Robert Mursh of this District,
and respectfully ask a careful examination
of this claim for it does appear that
evidence of a high order is called for
in yours of the 9th of Oct and 24th of
January last has been sent you as ev-
idence in this claim. She swore be in the
hand writing of Robert Mursh which you
omit to mention.
It would appear from the Pension
Laws now in force, page 72 that Attorney
General Batten to the Secretary of War gave
an opinion in regard to marriage in the
State of New York, that might be accommodated
to this case such is the law in this
State, and I presume is the law of more
than half this Union.
