I am well acquainted with

Wm E. White who testifies to the hand

writing of Robert Marsh Revolutionary

Soldier dec’d, and knew him to

be a gentleman of the highest respectability

and a leading man in the District.

I also know Edward Smith who

gave evidence in the same case to be

an influential and respectable man of

spotless integrity.  Mrs. Pettis I do not know,

only from character, but am informed

that she is a respectable old lady of this

District.  The claimant I do not know,

but know Joseph F. White to be one

of the most respectable Magistrates of

the District, and his official Acts

entitled to highest confidence.
