Mazda Efini RX-7
Kit: Tamiya
Pros:
Just like any Tamiya kit, it's nearlu perfect. Unfortunately it's curbside, but the rest of the details negates that fact. The only thing is for it being a curbside, the opening hood is questionable.....
Cons:
Windows are slightly difficult to work with, other than that....
It actually tok me four tries to get the paint on this one right. It started out red, which bubbled, then yellow that had the same problem, so it was stripped and yellow again, which cracked, and finally black. This was actually a pretty fun kit to build as all of Tamiyas are, paint problems aside it only took about a week to finish.
I really didn't like the way the rear lights were molded, it was all one big clear part. First you need to paint the clear red and amber sections, back them with foil, then spray black from the backside. The rear window didn't particularly want to fit into it's slot either, maybe it was something I did and not an error with the kit.
The underside was sprayed the same black as the top. Flat black sections were masked and oversprayed with Pollyscale clear flat. All the rest of the suspension parts are either aluminum or semi-gloss black. I heat stained the exhaust with Tamiya clear acrylics.
