| Kit: Revell #1930 Pros: Overall a very good kit. The body was spot on and cleanly molded and all parts needed very little claenup at all. The parts fit was excellent, but a little tight in some spots. Cons: The only kit of the C6 ragtop is a snap kit, so some compromises had to be made such as, there were no brakes or mirors in the kit, so I had to rob those items from the glue version. Also, the headlight unit is difficult to install without damaging the body. I built this 2005 Corvette ragtop from the Revell Wheels of Fire snap kit. I Built the kit pretty much box stock with the exception of a few details from the glue kit thet weren't included in the snap kit. This built is probably one of my best finishes to date and has taken awards at the Cactus Classic 2006 and Hobytown nationals in 2005 and 2007. |

| The body was painted with Tamiya Mica Red and cleared with TS-13 clear. I sanded with 6000 grit between coats to make sure it was dead smooth. After I let the paint dry for a week, I sanded it with 4000-12000 grit polishing cloths, followed by a rubbing with KIT Scratch Off and a final covering with Black Magic liquid wax. | ||||||||||||||||
| I painted the interior Tamiya Matt black from the spray can, then buffed it with a flannel cloth to give it the appearance of vinyl. The "metal" areas were brush painted Testors aluminum. I also added flocking for the carpets, floormats, and seatbelts made from masking tape with photoetched buckles from Model Car Garage. | ||||||||||||||||

Everything on the chassis is molded as one piece. I took out the time to carefully mask and paint everything in the proper colors. The tires trads were sanded lightly to give them a driven on look. The kits brakes were poor, so I replaced them with some drilled out units from the companion glue kit. | |||||||||||||||
