BrokenSeal Interview
First of all, Thanks for accepting the invite to do an interview with corrupted Lyrics. I really dig your music online and would like to give out a little friendly support.
CL: So please tell me who is the band members of BrokenSeal and what do each of you guys play?
Broken Seal: Okay,so we have Elliot Henry (guitar) Justin Liden(drums) Josh Henry(bass) Marc Anguiano(vocals)
CL: Did everyone in BrokenSeal start together or did it slowly come together?
Broken Seal: This is the first band that has actually done any thing that any of us has been involed in,but it definately took awhile.the band actually started with Elliot and Justin. Then after playing guitar for like 12 years I started on the bass because me and my brother(elliot)could not play guitar together in a band with out tring to kill each other,then after many many auditions Elliot and Marc where haggin out after work one night and they where fuckin around drinkin some beer and shit and it just kinda happend.
CL: The name Broken Seal kinda catches my attention, give a little insight to the name, how you guys decided that name and whats the meaning behind it.
Broken Seal: Man,I could go on and on about that, But I think we'll just leave that one to the people who feel it cause after all it's not really about what we think or believe.
CL: You guys are a fairly new band right? I believe since mid 2005. What made you guys decide to put this band together?
Broken Seal: I guess it's like this, You can either be the type of person who sits and watches or the kind that stands up and does, and regardless of what people may think or say I personally have been through far to much shit to sit down and shut the fuck up.
CL: Ive read that you guys have been creating since the 90's. Why has it taken so long to get going?
Broken Seal: that ones pretty much a right place right time type a thing.
CL: Your bio on myspace is indeed different from every other band bio because you had a fan give their opinion of the band. Is this just one way you are trying to stand out from every other band?
Broken Seal: Josh: Nah,I just got sick of reading all this bullshit about revalution this or believe in that or we're doing something never done before cause we're so original,Ya know it's kinda like our drummer says "every one sounds like the beatles". I don't know I guess we're just not about filling peoples heads with bullshit, we don't need people to believe we're from hell or mars or some distant fuckin fantasy realm or that we're part of some new world order,peoples lives are fucked up enough and thats what we're about ya know real shit, standing up for who you are no matter how hard life smacks you in the fucking face.
CL: Does everyone in the band collaborate in making the music/lyrics for the band or does a specific person do that
Broken Seal: Yeah,we all get off on that shit
CL: As a local band in San Antonio, what do you think about our local scene here?
Broken Seal: We've met some badass people out there who have alot of passion for what they do when it comes to supporting the scene or playing in it, but overall it's lacking at best.It's like a fuckin popularity contest with all this competition between bands,it's like they bring all there people out and then when they're done playing they leave like there afraid to lose there fans to another bands as if everyone out there only likes one band at a time??? ya know where about getting everyone toghether to have a big fuckin throw down ya know lets ALL get tore the fuck up and have a fucking blast,fuck all the drama.and you don't even want to get us started on most of the promoters out there.
CL: You have 4 songs on myspace right now, are you doing anymore recording for newer songs or for the future?
Broken Seal: Yeah,we'll be hitting the studio here pretty soon to do a full lenght self release
CL: Also I didnt see any cds available on myspace, do you guys have a cd coming out anytime soon or is there a way for pepole to get their paws on a copy?
Broken Seal: We will probably be releasing our full lenghth early summer and we'll have some studio demos in the spring time and also we are going to be working with a lable for digital distribution through a bunch of places like yahoo music and napster and shit
CL: Are you guys looking to get signed or to stay a local underground band?
Broken Seal: Shit if some one wants to pay us to play our music to the world , we be down for that.
CL: Have you been compaired to any bands and if so which?
Broken Seal: The Beatles.
CL: I havnt been to a show yet, so what can you say I would expect when I see you guys perform? (since this interview i did make it to see them play a few times)
Broken Seal: Well sence we where all to lazy to get this done before you made it out to a couple of our shows I think you would agree if I siad, A brutal loss of sanity =P.....
CL: For those people who havnt heard your music, how can you describe your sound? Besides the sound of someones fuckin head exploding!!!!! haha
Broken Seal: Heavy,groovin,raw.
CL: Did all the members of the band come from the same musical background?
Broken Seal: UH.......Yes and no, we are all into alot of the same music but there also alot of diversity between us also as far as personal taste goes.
CL: Is there any last things you'd like to say that i didnt get out?
Broken Seal: First I just want to say thank you for all the support and we appolagize for the delay in getting this back to you,It's really great knowing we have the support of some one who puts as much of them self into doing what they love like you do
