List of favorite complete fanfics

"Public Service Announcement:
Writing fanfic is every bit as addictive as reading it."

                                                       - Iniga

The Farther Shore, by Blaise - RL/OFC, post Hogwarts, pre-1981.  Check out her other stories too, they are all complete, as she hasn't posted anything on ff.net since 2000.

Anagrams, by Melyanna - On a Christmas eve during World War II, Cornelius Fudge witnesses an ordinary children's game and hears a name which will haunt his career.

The Ravenclaw Chronicles, by Lilith True - The founding of Hogwarts through the eyes of Rowena Ravenclaw.  The author gives much attention to (muggle) historical accuracy in this fic, making it so much richer.

This Was Falling, by Thing1 - RL/OFC, written pre-OotP, set in Harry time.  I'm not sure if Thing1 or Alphie created this universe, which is now firmly AU, but it is complete with fanfiction of the fanfic written by other authors.

Grim Dawn, by Robin4 - Alternate Universe fic which begins prior to Harry's third year after the incident with Aunt Marge.  Robin's other stories are just as incredible, her Yahoo! mailing list and archives are here.  Go to "Files" and click on "Order.htm" for a chronology of her stories.  Links to all of the stories are under "Links" in the stationary box on the left of the the Yahoo! page.

A Promise Worth Keeping, by Cas - Similar premise to Grim Dawn, but it begins before the first book and not connected at all to Robin's work.  AU.  Before he ever hears of Hogwarts, Harry has a magical accident that has horrible reprecussions for him.  In a race to protect him, two old friends end up on opposite sides when the real danger lies elsewhere...

The Road Not Taken, by Bethany1 - AU fic set in 1981.  What if the night of Halloween 1981 Sirius Black didn't go after Peter?  As of writing this, not all of the story is posted on ff.net, the rest is on her Yahoo! list here under "Files" and "The Road Not Taken."

Shoot the Moon, by AriaStar - very well written RIAW (Remus Is A What?).  Sirius is delightfully insensitive before he finds out about Remus.

And the Moon was Black and Red, also by AriaStar - Just what happens to a werewolf during a lunar eclipse?  The Marauders don't know, but they're determined to find out.  Essentially fluff.

Black Knight, by Kat Morning - Sirius is reunited with his beloved motorbike.  Involves flashbacks to Marauder times, tipsy werewolves and tattoos.

Moonlit Perdition, by Erika - Sirius befriends a timid Remus and then struggles to learn more about his mysterious friend.  What brutal nightmares cause him to scream and thrash so much that he becomes entangled in sweat-drenched covers?  Why does he disappear once a month?  Very sensitively written RIAW, warning for graphic werewolf transformation.

Like a Fairy Tale, by Indigo Zonia - A young Victorian boy is growing up, however precariously, in a world that used to make sense.  But the bullies are now scared of him and his mother appears to be going mad... He's wondering who he is and he's about to find out.

A Little Chat with Nicolas, also by Indigo Zonia - companion piece to 'Like a Fairy Tale.'  The conversation between Albus and Nicolas Flamel at the end of 'Philosopher's Stone.'

Spot the Difference, also by Indigo Zonia - One of my all time favorite fanfics.  Hermione wakes up to a perfect day with a suspicious feeling that something's missing.  Involves a Time-Turner, an odd dream, and Snape in green.

The Nicest Thing My Mother Ever Did For Me, by JKLB - When Sirius Black is sorted into Gryffindor, NO ONE is particularly happy about it.  MMWP at 11.

Something Higher on the List, by Alphard -  A short account of Remus' first day at Hogwarts.  Large amounts of foreshadowing, irony and, for some reason, Severus Snape.  Focuses mainly on the train journey and the Sorting Ceremony.  Written pre-OotP.

A Tabby and Her Kit, by uber grasshopper - Don't read if AB/MM pairings bother you.  Minerva stubbornly defies Dumbledore's command and rescues baby Harry Potter from his uncaring relatives.  How will she handle raising him without the help of Hogwarts?

Distractions, by Elsha - Theodore Nott would like to forget a future he doesn't want - and music has always provided a distraction.  Anne Fairleigh just wants the chance to practice her flute in peace.  But a chance friendship between pureblood Slytherin and Muggle-born Hufflepuff soon raises the very questions Theodore has been avoiding and Anne never thought to ask.  Set in Harry's fifth year, alternate point of view, well-written endearing characters.

Memories, by me - yes, I had to plug my own, but after this long and wonderful list, could you maybe read my little fic?  It would make me ever so happy.  *gushes*  It explores the relationship between Harry and Lupin and the nature of the Veil.
