JUSTICE

Fairness

Responsibility

Decision Making

Cause and Effect

Equilibrium

Behind the Lens
The  wheels  of  justice  as we know it today began its development in the wild west, when laws were few, judgment was swift, and the  penalties  of  improper  actions  were  carried  out  with marked informality.

An  1878  editor  from  the  half-civilized  territory  of  New  Mexico  described  it best when he wrote, "There  are  no  state  officers  to  interfere with the unalloyed liberty which the inhab-itants of  that  country  enjoy.  When  any horse thieves or bad characters make their appear-ance they are strung up to the cottonwoods."

I wonder what would  happen  if  we  were to return to this simplier form of American Justice. Would the world become a safer or more dangerous place to live?

The Card's Meaning
In Tarot  terms, this card  represents the deeper  understanding and hope that divine justice will  forever  prevail.  Justice  can  seem  callous  and  reserved  at  times,  but  it  is  always objective,  decisive,  and   scrupulously  fair.    Through   Justice,   matters   of   karma   and issues  of  cause  and  effect  serve as  a  balance  in   keeping  life  just.  Justice is the  card which advises us to seek equilibrium in our  physical,  emotional,  social, and  spiritual lives.

In  readings,  Justice  often  appears  when  we  are  concerned  with  doing what  is right  or making  the  right  choices.  We  must  weigh  matters  carefully,  before  making important decisions  that  will  effect  our  lives  and/or  the  lives of others.  The laws of karmic justice demand we act responsibly and honestly, for all actions and decisions will return to us  later. Justice  can  help  us  alter  our  lives  accordingly,  and  press  us  to  make  improvements.

This card can also appear when we are experiencing the consequences of our  actions.  Every cause we set to motion will eventually  return to  us  as  an  effect.  The  past  has  a  way  of finding us if we do not recognize our mistakes and make amends for  the  future.  Likewise, the card can also refer to judgments in  our  favor  or  receiving  a  just  and  deserving  due.

In  a  more mundane  sense,  Justice  can remind  us of  courtrooms,  where  judgments  are made  and  decisions  rendered.  In  some  readings  the appearance of this card can  refer to legal matters, where the principles of justice, fairness, and the impartial quest for truth  can be explored and a verdict provided.
