"And we know that God causes all
things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are
called according to HIS purpose."
Romans 8:28
The other night while on my way to our ladies bible study I
did a very dumb thing and by all logical rights I should of been hit and
possibly killed; as the 1 1/2 ton truck should of hit right into the
drivers side of my car. Thinking the way was clear I pulled
out to make a left turn onto Loop 1604 as I turned my head back to the
left I saw, to my horror, a big 1 1/2 ton truck directly behind a pick-up
making a right turn onto the access road I was leaving. As it came
straight at me all I could think was, "Oh, shoot! Why didn't I look?" As I
pressed hard on the gas the car seemed to barely move then
all at once I felt a thrust of energy, heard a little squeal and the
car took off with the rear end fishtailing onto the highway. As the
backend of the car came onto it's proper side of the road the 1 1/2 ton truck
roared by; incredibly the background music was a Scripture memory song
"My grace is sufficient for you..."
While on my way home what had happened earlier returned and replayed
over in my mind, as I reached the exact spot where it had happened I looked and
realized that the Lord HAD intervened - I should of been hit. Right then I
TRULY, for the first time, realized I do have a purpose and that my days are
numbered and that the Lord isn't going to allow my time to come to an end until
my days are complete and HIS purpose fulfilled in my life. I started
weeping because I had this knowledge in my head but for the first time it was
TRUTH in my heart. I pleaded, "Lord what is my purpose and what is it that
You'd have me to do? Please, tell me." When I got home I told
John, my husband, about what had happened and he looked down and shook his head
and I quickly responded to his gesture by saying, "I'm sorry. I know what I did
was dumb and I don't know why I didn't look to the left again before
committing to the turn." I thought he was mad at me and going to
lecture me or something in kind. He looked at me and said, "The Toyota is
a front wheel drive, they (front wheel drives) don't fishtail." This
statement only verified what I already knew - God protected me.
The following morning, when I went to check e-mail, there where two
e-mail's that grabbed my attention and I knew the Lord was speaking to me
answering my heart's cry from the night before. The first of these e-mails
was from Daily Wisdom online devotional (A service of Gospel Communications
Network (GCN) A Ministry of Gospel Films, Inc. Edited by Warren
Kramer). It was an allegory I'd written and submitted in August
1998. I hadn't heard anything back from them one way or the other and
figured that it was not what they were looking for and I had hit the delete key
on the allegory that I thought wouldn't be published. But the Lord had
saved it knowing what would happen on the night of April 26th and how I'd pray
and seek His will and His leadership. He timed this allegory to come
up on my screen over 8 months later to verify, with words He'd used my
hands to write, "Yes April, you have a purpose." as well as what it is! A
follow-up e-mail about "Responsibility of the Ministry" (written by a
dear brother whom I respect greatly) was the second e-mail read and it was
verification to what I believed the Lord was saying to me. Now I am
putting feet to that answered prayer and I will continue to seek His wisdom and
guidance as I move forward (with Him at my side) with the writing ability He's
given me.
His desire is for us to truly know Him, His word and His purpose for our
lives, to draw us all closer to Him. How about you, beloved. Do
you truly KNOW Him? Is knowing He has a purpose for your life and that He
knows the number of your days (and the hairs on your head) and that nothing,
absolutely nothing, will thwart His plan and purpose TRUTH in your heart or, as
was my case, is it only head knowledge?
At this very moment I sit in awe of my wonderful Creator who loves me
so much that He has HIS angels watch over me (and you) that I might be able to
fulfill HIS purpose in my life to bring HIS glory. This brings real
meaning to Romans 8:28, for He does "work all things together for good to those
who love Him, to those who are called according to HIS purpose."
Have a wonderful day in the Lord!
April Correia
