"Some boast in chariots and some
in horses;
but we will boast in the name of
the LORD
our God."
(Psalm 20:7 NASB)
In the last Encouragement we saw that the name
of the LORD is a strong tower and that we (His righteous)
can run into it and be safe. Today we will look at what it means to boast
in the name of the LORD.
Kay Arthur explains "In the old Testament days
chariots and horses were two means of protection and escape. Today our
chariots and horses come with different labels, shapes, and forms; even so, they
are still a visible means of help, escape, or protection." Kay goes on to
ask, "Yet are these really a source of
safety? No. "The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but
safety is of the LORD." (Prov. 21:13
KJV)"
You may ask, "What does it mean to boast in the
name of the LORD anyway?" Great question! To
boast in means
to have confidence in, to trust in. Thus, to boast in the name of the
LORD means to have confidence in His name. Kay
explains it this way, "God's name represents His character, His attributes, His
nature. To know His name is to know Him. To boast in His name is to
have confidence in who He is!"
Beloved, do you question how and why you where
created? Then turn to Elohim (God the Creator)
and what He has to say (Gen. 1:1; Ps. 139:1-18; Isa. 43: 1-4,7; Rev.
4:11). Are you being treated unfairly? Turn to El
Roi (God who sees) for He sees what's going on and knows the truth (Ex.
3:7). There is absolutely nothing to difficult for El
Shaddai (The All-Sufficient One), God Almighty (Gen. 17)!
Are you boasting in the visible things of this
world, or are you boasting in the name of the LORD your God?
Have a joyous day in our
Lord!
April
